Hi Ada
Could you tell me the nearest major cities where you live in Utah and I might be able to help. That you are looking for a breeder and not for a pet shop is good. Don't ever buy a dog through a pet shop or on the internet - go through a responsible breeder. When you say Corgi - do you mean a Pembroke or a Cardigan or either.

http://www.pwcca.org/index.html is a good place to start when looking for a corgi in your area.

we also have several good thread on what to look for in a puppy, feeding, potty training, etc. - click on the FORUMS button at the top of the page.

also you may be interested in reading Foxys Story & My Pet Store Experience threads that are being discussed right now * oh I forgot to mention check out Dewey's thread - there is a lot of information and discussion on your question there too!

good luck and keep us posted on your progress

*edited to add Dewey's thread

If you put PUPPYFIND.COM in, then corgi, and put the state, breeders in your area will pop up. Not all of them of course, but some. Good luck.

Better to deal with someone who is a member of the PWCCA if you are in the US, as they are expected to follow a code of ethics when breeding.http://www.pwcca.org/code.htm

Check out the above link- I didn't see Utah on it, but you may be close enough to one of the adjoining states where you could find a good breeder. Good luck.

This is not a breeder locator service, and I want to second(or third) the opinions already expressed. PLEASE do not push puppy mills on this site. There are enough reputable breeders out there, and there is no shortage, they just have to look and they will not be sorry that they took the time to do so instead of taking the easy way. Don't you read the sad stories that get posted on here?

MGM- We are an everything to do with Corgi service.

One way of possibly finding a Corgi breeder is to do a search on Dogster for a Corgi in the town/city/area/State (or nearest to) that you would like to locate a breeder, and ask the Corgi members where they got their Corgi/s from. I haven't kept up with numbers recently, but there could be 5000 Corgi owners on Dogster with a large majority of them living in the USA. Of course, if you go to individual pages on Dogster you can get a pretty good idea (with several photos included) of the kind of Corgi the member has.

Michael,

Have you forgotten this post you wrote back in February? - if you truly believe in what you told this person, then why would you want to allow such sites as Puppyfind on here?

I think one can sort out the good fruit from the poor fruit at every stage, at every level.

There are good breeders and poor breeders using every form of marketing.

THere are better, less risky altenatives but there are some good offers among the rank and file.

Not necessarily - have you missed some of our past threads on pet store pups or how about Deweys' breeder.

Michael, you have owned a lot of corgis throughout your wise old years and you know what to look for; if you didn't, you wouldn't have a Merthyr Corgi. Remember, some of the people inquiring are young and going to be first time dog owners.

I think it is best to advise inexperienced people away from questionable dog websites, to prevent them from becoming involved with that kind of thing, inadvertently supporting a puppy mill or BYB, and ending up with an unhealthy puppy.

If they don't know any better, they cannot use their better judgement to "sort out the good fruit from the bad fruit."

By best friend is very smart, but inexperienced in dealing with breeders, and she ended up with a badly-bred sheltie pup from a BYB (I question whether or not it's even purebred at this point, because it's over-sized and has weird coloring that I've never seen on a sheltie). She didn't have enough experience with this sort of thing to judge whether or not the breeder was reputable.
