Conehead
Miss Jemma was spayed on Tuesday morning. My vet knew that I would be anxious so they did her first thing, so I wouldn’t have to wait all day to hear how she was. She was just fine and stayed overnight. Rupe and I picked her up last night after work and brought her home. They actually were teasing me that she wasn’t there as she is such a little sweetie they wanted to keep her.
She has to wear a cone to keep her from nibbling her stitches when I can’t see her. They told me she had adapted to it quite well and should be fine. Last night I put it on her, as we got ready to go to bed. You’d have thought I’d put a lead weight on the poor thing. She stood with her head dropped down, resting the cone on the floor in the same position for 25 minutes. It would have been longer but I picked her up and put her on her bed. She was in the exact same position this morning when I got up. I took off the cone and it was like I’d flipped her “on” button on. She was all happy, bouncy, and licky. This morning before I left we went through the same thing – dog statue. I picked her up and put her in her space, gave her a cookie and left. My neighbour just called to tell me how she is, as I asked her to look in on her in case she gets her head caught somewhere. She is still not moving at all with the cone – poor little girl, and my friend asked me how to get her to move – I just told her she’d have to pick her up carefully and move her. It’s so hard being a Mom – at least tomorrow is my last day at work for 2 weeks so she won’t have to wear the cone for much longer.

Gotta love those corgi drama queens!
Glad she is doing well, and I hope she can bear it for just a little while longer . . . almost . . . time . . for . . vacation . . .

Update - she can walk! My neighbour went back up to check on her and she's sitting at the gate dividing the dogs and the apartment. I'll be home in an hour and half and the cone will be off for a few hours! She's doing very well from the surgery though, she went up and down the stairs this morning like a pro!

*~* Let me clarify First....I am happy that she is more mobile and getting her equilibrium (spell?) stable with the cone. Second...I am happy to hear that you get off work soon. Also that you get to be HOME with her for a couple of weeks. * My kitty~witty Sunshine used to be extremely territorial ! She HATED other cats. She WOULD NOT allow any feline to go anywhere near our yard...or even near her ! She was a little bit of a kitty bitc?(h) !She would get into fights & come home with bloody ears & such. One day....she came into the house wimpering & flopped down on the carpet. She started licking her hip area. When I looked at it....there was a HUGE hole ! I freaked out and drove her to the vet immediately !Turns out...it was from another cat. Of course.... The vet bill was outrageous....but, WORTH IT ! Sunshine was a, "CONEHEAD Kitty" for a week or so. We called her, "Conehead Kitty" the whole time she had it on. ( I have pictures....I will try to scan them into my computer to show you all) It was so hard for her to eat...I raised her food dish off the floor and put it at the level where she would be most comfortable. Anyhoo...I can relate to the CONEHEAD days. *~* Nikki
