How do you teach "Aroooo"?

Just before I got Tucker, I worked in an office that was pet friendly. Everyday there was a wonderful Cairn terrier who would spend the day with us. And first thing every morning she would "Aroooo" to all her best buddies (like me who fed her baby carrots!).

Tucker does not aroooo and he's not a talker. Lulu is a talker. She makes all kinds of sounds and will tell you all about her day. And I don't mean barking. Aroooo is not in her repertoire.

How do you teach your Corgi to Aroooooo and can you?

That is a good question, to which I have no answer ...If they don't do it in the first place, I don't know how you could get them too... There must be some Corgi expert out there that can tell you this.

Maybe if you do the Arooooo to them eventually they will join in, I don't know.(don't let the neighbors see you)

Cody has done the Arooooo from the time we got him, and it is quite cute.

*~* Linda,
Midnight & Sunshine love it when I pick them up ! My neighbor teases me sometimes and asks, "How are your baby girls ?" I put Midnight & Sunshine over my shoulder and support their back and bottom...like I would do when my children were babies. I call it the, "birping position" ! ~~belch~~

My next door neighbor just gave birth to a baby boy (Josiah). She goes outside alot throughout the day. She tells me that when her son is fussy...and Midnight starts, "Ba~Wooo" ing...that he stops and turns his head toward the noise !

Midnight has --->>>Super Puppy Powers !!! Midnight has the ability to

calm a crying baby !

WOW !!

If Midnight can calm a crying baby, that is great; makes the new mom happy also.

I would say that you can teach a dog to make dog-like noises the way you want. So I would frequently go into a Aroooooo - especially when greeting your Corgi after being away for some time or first thing in the morning after waking up. Dogs are able to mimic and so I'm sure given time and patience, wooing to the moon like a wolf will come to Tucker.

I taught our previous Corgi to howl by doing it myself in the backyard. Luckily we have a privacy fence. The only problem is that I couldn't get her to stop! Be careful what you wish for :-)

Smile *~* I love you

*~* I tell my girls that I love them....many times throughout the day.

I have heard Midnight howl, "Arr...roo...roo". Almost the EXACT mimic as the tone I used. If I say it longer (I.........L..o..v..e.................you ) Midnight sometimes stretches out her, "Arrrrrrrrrrrr...rooooooooooo...rooooo" to also mimic the length of the word !

Smartie pants little Corgi girlie...

** I LOVE IT..when she does that ! Way, too cute !! **

I agree Nikki - I think it is some type of love expression. As I said before, if I arrooooo to Chip, he jumps on my lap and starts giving me corgi kisses. chip does arrroooo too.
