Checker's name matches the rug! He looks so curious with that cube. He's very cute and short! Well, aren't all corgis short?
Hehe.. I don't think that he's short so much as he is extra long. Even as slender as he is for his body type he still weighs in at a solid 30lbs. I swear the poor guy looks like a slinky going down stairs. If you do decide to get the Buster Cube I would highly recomend playing with it on a rug or carpeted area because that thing on tile is deafening!

Cheryl: Oh no! We just got rid of all the carpeting in the house. We only have tiles and hardwood floors! I'll just have to turn on the TV or play some music.

Oh my gosh...you guys crack me up. Haven't been on in a while, but am sure glad everyone is still around. We go to get Huw today...and for a few days i've been really concerned about leaving him home alone all day while I'm at work. Justin works part time, and will be home quite a bit, but there will be days neither of us will be home for 8-9 hours. Reading what you guys post has been really calming. We have a football thing that we will shove treats in, but maybe he'll get the Buster Cube for Christmas. Great ideas...thanks!!!

I am going to go camera crazy...if of course i can put him down. That's what Justin is there for...to take all the pictures. I'll be home with him all weekend, so I'll probably be online looking for lots of help.

I enjoy giving it to him on occasion just because of that. Here's a few pictures of him playing with it one of the first time. Oh.. and it took about twice for him to really 'get' it that he had to work it... it's pretty noisy so at first I think it made him nervous. Once he figured out it was dinner he got over that fast. I had to roll it for him to start so he would figure out food came from it...
I love the log cabin rug. As for the cube, I assume they just chase it because it looks like they couldn't grab it in their mouth and run.

I bought the buster cube for Sassy but it was too noisy and she was scared of it. She does not like noisy things, she is scared. She has only been left alone once for about 2 hours since we have had her. My husband is disabled and I work from home so we are with her 24 hours a day and if we both go somewhere she also goes and if we stop at the store or somewhere she cannot go then we leave the vehicle running with the air going and just lock her up. She is fine. She always gets a treat of some kind for being a good girl and not chewing up something in the truck while we are gone. I wish she liked the buster cube for rainy days when getting outside is not possible. She liked the KONG she had as a puppy but when she got her nose caught in it and could not get it out I decided I did not like that so the KONG went in the garbage.

Tuck and Lulu are left 9.5 hours 3 days a week. The other 2 weekdays they go to daycare. On the 3 days (unless it is pouring rain like this morning!) I take them to the fields for runs and play time/about 30-60 minutes depending on the weather and if we run into playmates.... They are usually napping by the time I walk out the door.

Tucker chewed when he was a puppy left by himself so I started getting Buster cubes, treat balls, Busy buddies, Kongs, bully sticks, etc. Now with Lulu I do believe the two actually play some while I'm gone.

Since everyone is talking about the buster cube, we got Milo this wiggly giggly toy. At first I got him the big wiggly giggly ball. He was scared at first since when you play with it, it makes sounds (without batteries). This toy was actually recommended by Oprah. Yes, I watch Oprah. Then, my fiance got him the "bone" one which is pictured here.

Since he couldn't bite on to the ball one, he CHEWED up the bone one big time. Only 1/3 of it is left because the rest we had to cut or else he would eat/swallow the plastic. It was meant to play and entertain him - not to chew as a cow hide or anything. Boy, Milo always tries to climb the cabinet to get this wiggly giggly toy that we store away.

I thought this would keep him from being restless when we're gone too but that idea is now gone! He's a destructive little sucker. He killed that expensive $14 toy in 2 days!!

Oh, I forgot to ask all: When you leave your corgis at home, do you leave a pee pad, food, and water out for them also? I am only worried if Milo will just poop or pee around the house when we're gone. He can hold it for a good long time but not 8-9 hours I think.

Thanks all!

When Jackie was younger (too young to hold it that long), she had papers to pee on while we were gone. Now she doesn't, because she can hold it until someone comes to walk her. And we have always left water for her. I give her fresh water when I leave, and the walker changes it when she comes, so there is always a steady supply of fresh clean water for her. And she also has all of her toys (except the ones that I have deemed "supervised use only"), her bed, and her crate to make her nice & comfy. If you are concerned about Milo going potty (or otherwise getting into mischief) while you are gone, I recommend gating him into the kitchen or the bathroom . . . somewhere with an easy-to-clean floor, and nothing that is dangerous / expensive for him to chew on. (Jackie's room is the kitchen)

I keep my hoodlums gated or x penned into the dining room. I tried free ranging wut with disaterous effects (my love seat will never be the same). I used Pee pad when both Tuck and Lu were very young but Lulu never used them, Tuck used them 2 times then evetually started chewing them up and making amess, so I have them but don't use them.

Today Tucker refused to play outside in the rain before I left for work. I know he didn't potty. Lulu went out early and pottied but refused her 2nd (just before I leave) potty break. So I put one down in the corner. It was a strange morning. I suspect I will get home and it will be in a million pieces on the floor.

Does anyone have one of the treatballs where you can record your voice on it? What a nighmare. A friend gave that to Tucker for Christmas, he rolled it around and I swear it was like having a house full of people gabbing. Almost as annoying as the Buster Cube on the stairs.

Sweetly Chee,

I know what ball you are talking about - I have it for Cody. He loves the ball and tries to bite it and makes the funniest noises while trying to do it. He pushes the ball all around the house.

Yep, Milo does the same after he destroyed the "bone." It's a rather nice toy until our corgis try to destroy it!
