Milo doesn't play with anyone. He barks at all dogs (again, I have posted this on the other threads) and he's fierce with any dogs big or small. He thinks he's human! He also doesn't get the notion that he's not really big. But he has a big heart!

I wish Milo would play with other dogs! I'm envious of your gentle corgis!

A sweetly natured Corgi is a god send and after you've experienced a Corgi with a poor relationship outlook to almost every other dog - especially those of the same sex - the huge relief and weight-off-shoulder in having a Corgi who lives and let-lives, is tremendous

Jessica-
I read your posts and I tell you, our cousin dogs are wayyyy to close in behavior! LOL! Everytime i see something "unique" that Dillon does, i find out that Jackie does it too! I find that too funny.

Well I took Dillon to a state park today and we met a very active viszla looking for birds, so while Denver the viszla ran all over the place looking for birds, Dillon followed him everywhere trying to catch/herd him...what a sight it was...Poor Dillon, he was sooo tired, and this viszla looked like he hadn't even really broken a sweat, the hour of running around was nothing to him, and my poor Dillon's tongue was hanging practically to the ground!! He got along fine with this other dog, eventhough he was on the high energy side, he didnt have that nervous energy that really hyper active dogs have, so he got along fine with this dog.. It is nice to see Dillon off leash running free...what a beautiful site it was.

I know Emilie! I think it's so cute how alike they are! We should try to get them together sometime! That would be a sight to see!

I love to watch Jackie run at full speed off-leash. She looks so happy & cute, I can't stand it!!!

Emilie - dogs are just like us humans when it comes to fitness. We both have to gradually get fitter and fitter so we can run faster and for longer. So every day for Dillon at the park chasing after those big brutes and he'll get to be (nearly) as quick and probably display more stamina, given a little time. Don't forget, most Corgis carry more weight than they need to.

Rhys doesn't like the overfrisky dogs, either.

Yesterday at the park, he kept getting pounced on by a 4 month old Labradoodle, who would bark at him. Rhys turned around and snapped at him a couple of times to say "leave me alone!" The Labradoodle's owner thought that was amusing and said that his dog needed to be taught a lesson.

Then, after an hour, Rhys and I went to the small dog side because he was fascinated by a couple of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. A puppy came in and guess what Rhys did? The exact same thing the labradoodle did! And guess what puppy's reaction was? You got it - Rhys got a taste of his own medicine.

Apparently he is "do as I say, not as I do."

Huw just started puppy socialization yesterday, our vet hospital hosts it every Wednesday. He was such a scaredy cat and nipped at the dogs who sniffed him. The way they have it set up, there are mediators, and the owners are not involved. It's actually quite good for him. He got a little better near the end, and barked a few times. His playmates included a schnauzer, two toy fox terriers and a mixed breed. The larger dogs were so rambunctious, and guess who was in the middle of it all....yup...a 4 month old corgi. He was tearing it up with a 4 month old lab and a 4 month old mastiff...oh and the young pit mix. He thought he was such a big dog...but he could easily walk under the lab and mastiff, to his advantage of course. His owners said that he was just like Huw (scared and shy) when they first brought him. So we'll just keep going, and get him to be a social butterfly like his mom & dad.

You are doing a good thing getting him socialized with other dogs early on
I take Cody to Dog day care 1 day a week to play and have fun,(for either 1/2 day or a full day). So each week he sees some regulars, but also gets to play with new dogs. I think he understands when I tell him on day care day that we are going and he will get to play. Normally, he sits in the van and doesn't make a sound when I go places, but on day care morning, when I tell him we are going, he sort of whines on the trip there - he seems to know that he is going someplace fun and just can't wait to get there. and the owners say he is well behaved and plays nicely.

Jackie definitely understands what "school" means! She gives me the head tilt, then goes & sits by the door . . . silently willing it to open . . .
