Oh - I love the puppy pictures! ...and that #6 sure looks FLUFFY to me!!
(Having a Fluffy myself makes me particularly partial!) I remember those last couples of weeks before we picked up ChloeLouise...it was soooooo difficult to wait! By the time we arrived at the breeder's I had a huge knot in my stomach and I could hardly breathe!! Congratulations and we will be anxious to see photos of your pup at home!!

No matter what you buy for your puppy, he'll have fun with anything, and you will have fun during the trial and error period. My baby will be three this weekend yet we still treat her like a puppy, we almost always pick her up some sort of new toy(or treat)while we are out and when she sees it, we again see that 9 week old puppy when we brought her home and put her on the floor in front of all the toys we had waiting for her.
PS Don't forget to purchase a few emergency supplies while you are getting the toys. Basic first aid items are a must. Take care, and love your Corgi! |

The pups are gorgeous. I am very happy for you!
My guys love the puppy Kongs, they are light blue or pink. They are softer than the "big boy" kongs. And because I am a total sucker, I ordered on line "Snuggle Puppy". It's a stuffed dog that comes with a plastic heart inside that w/ batteries sounds like a heart beat. Tuck slept with it until he was over a year old. One day he decided to tear it apar so I took Snuggs away from him. yes, there is a sucker born every minute!

I enjoyed reading all of the Corgi stories and gained a lot of knowledge...thanks!
We are getting very excited! We are having her shipped to Saskatoon. We are both busy at work and will be unable to take enough time off work to make it worth going there. We would have loved to go out there though! |

But we got Lulu her own and she has managed to desound him and eat two of his feet! Dogs love hedgies!!Also, Rhys loves his Planet Dog toys - he has an Orbee-tough Orbo with treat spot and a little blue Orbee "world" ball (which he has stripped all the continents off of - I say it looks like the final outcome of global warming!). They have a really neat texture and they bounce really well. www.planetdog.com |

I did think of one specific toy today when I saw Miss Gambler playing with it. It's called a raccoon. It's a red plastic blob with handle, supposed to be a raccoon, I guess. We bought it a Petco and it comes in different sizes, so you could get the puppy size. Miss Gambler takes out so much aggression on that toy, which is why we like it, she really lets out a lot of energy, and it's good for indoors or outdoors. Again, we love it, and she has had it for months now(they still have it on the shelves) and she hasn't harmed it in any way. Just thought I would mention it.
Take care, and love your cogi! |

The petstages toys are great! Definately invest in the chilly bone one and the "teether ring with jingles" that is plush. It fits so nicely around their nose and Ponzo looked so cute trying to drag it around the little jingles bopping him in the face with every step. Ponzo also has the blue puppy kong, of course you will get the pink swirly one, and we stuff it with treats, kong stuffin, and bananas and strawberrys. Our vet has a whole list of kong recipes and we used those. But Ponzo's two favorites were his Lullaby teddy from Petsmart online and an empty water bottle! One day after drinking all of the water from inside, we just decided to scrub the label off and clean really well and see what he would do with it. He still has it, it slide across the carpet at the right speed and we also stuff treats in that too. That was the best free toy we have found!!

Jackie loved her hedgie, until she figured out how to destroy it. She has a way of finding a toy's weak spot and zeroing in on it until it's in pieces . . . incidentally, the hedgies weak spot was the eye . . . first she detached the feet, then the ears, then went for the eye . . . and bingo! Stuffing everywhere! The whole hedgehog destruction took about 6 weeks (practically a record . . . that "Loofah dog" from the Petsmart commercials didn't last an hour!).
Anyway, since she had loved it and played with it for such a "long" time, I bought her a new one. And what do you think happened? I gave it to her, she went right for the eyes, and hedgie's brains were all over the living room within 30 minutes! It's like every toy is a puzzle, and she feels the objective is to get the stuffing out as quickly as possible!

ROFL Jessica!!! oh my goodness, These cousins are way too close. Dillon also zeros in on the weak spot of a toy..if he starts to chew on a leg and gets a small hole started, if you try to hand him the toy with a different leg out ( in hopes he will chew that one, he will nose it around until he gets the already weakened leg with the hole in it so the destruction can begin. I got Dillon the loofa dog from petsmart too- and within 30 minutes there was stuffing all over the place, and a really satisfied little corgi! I found the christmas loofa dog with the hat worked out well, he would chew the hat which had no stuffing in it, so he would destroy that first before ripping off the ear and getting at the stuffing filled head!
I just bought Dillon a fleece ducky toy that has suede feet and beak and it is back to back fleece NO STUFFING and a big flat squeaker, so he can shake it around ( he is so cute when he does this) or he can squeak it but he wont make a mess even if he rips it open... so far it has lasted two full days! woo hooo! Where did you get the ducky Emilie?? That sounds promising!!
PS - We should have a contest. We buy them each the same toy and give it to them at the same time on the same day . . . and see who disembowels it first!!!

I found this toy at Pet supplies plus- it was about $8 not too terrible. Do you have that store in your area? I have not seen it at petco...but i thought i saw something similar at Petsmart, i could be wrong though. I will see if i can find it on line so you can see it...And we should do that with the race to destroy the toys - way too funny, I love your sense of humor!

Tash & Nick...how wonderfully exciting that you will be getting your new baby here soon. Justin and I picked our little boy up 2 weeks ago from the breeder, and I couldn't imagine life without him. I have to say, finding this forum has been a true blessing. All of the support, ideas and shared excitement feel like a part of a big corgi family.
Our little Huw is now 11 weeks old (and growing so fast) and he has a number of toys. Honestly, he plays with all of them. He has a Nyla-bone that he chews on instead of me, but he really likes it when I hold the other end. He has a squeaky fleece Hippo toy that he love to chew on, and just recently he figured out how to make it squeak on his own. My mom and dad got him some little stuffed toys that he can't get enough of, and every night when I come home, they are soaked (with dog slobber). He just found a rather large stuffed eagle in my closet, and has since been hauling that around (it's almost bigger than him), and this morning I took down the stuffed golden retreiver for him to cuddle with (it's about 2x bigger than he is). Last night we had fun playing fetch with his ball, which was the first time he could pick it up on his own. Dang...sounds like our dog needs a freakin' toy box! Oh, he also has a "frisbee" (aka tupperware lid) that he and Justin play with, but that he like to chew on too. He hasn't destroyed anything or ripped anything apart, but I have to cut all the tags off, as that's the first thing he goes for on any of his stuffed animals. And his final toy is his purple football kong that I fill with peanut butter in the mornings when Justin and I are both at work. He loves that, and I'm sure it keeps him occupied for a while. So that is what my 11 week old puppy likes. But like everyone said, each dog is different. Mine seems to think that anything you give him is his, and for the most part, he stays away from what isn't. Oh, and for the food, we feed Canidae all stages food...he loves it. It's what the breeder fed, so it was just as easy to keep him on it. Our local Feed Barn sells it 40lbs for $30.00. Good luck with your little girl. have you picked out a name yet? do you know which one is yours? I'm so excited for you, and can't wait to share in your puppyhood. Monica |

Don't feel bad Monica, I quickly realized that DIllon had way too many toys, and we did get an open toy box. I saw the ones that are hard plastic and had a lid but i didnt go for it. Problem being that he changes his mind a lot and wants to pick out his own toy, so what i did is I went to Target ( seen this at pottery barn and at peir one too) and got a soft sided canvas bin- it is sturdy enough for him to lean all over while picking out the favorite toy of the moment ( usually the one on the very bottom) and we got it in a sage green color to match our living room wall color, so it blends right in to the decour! LOL! Dillon loves it, though, we got a relatively small one, it is always over flowing with toys! LOL! Oh how we spoil our babies!
