ooohhh congrats!!!! I think every corgi's likes different toys, Buta has zero interest in balls but loves soft toys & towels I guess u have to get a few of those to try out. I have heard great reviews of those kong toys where u get to stuff some treats into & they can play & try to get the treats out too.

I love love love love loooovvvvveeeee Corgis!!!
I have discovered Corgis ONLY expand SIDE WAYS.

The puppies are all beautiful. Which one is yours? When Chip was a baby, I bought him little soft squeaky toys that he could easily grab ahold of. All have different likes though. Post pics when you get your new little one.

Oh how exciting!!! I got a lot of different toys, and every dog is different in what they love- so here goes the ones that seem to be the most loved here in my home. 1) the chilly bone, great for teething puppies, it is a canvas bone that you soak in water, then freeze and give to them to chew on.
2) the kong, i started with the puppy kong which was a blue and white swirly colored one...it is a little softer for puppies. you can put treats inside or even a tiny bit of peanut butter and they work hard to get it out, keeps them busy for a while! 3) soft plush toys- dillon's favorites are: the miagrator toys- little ducks and geese that make a honking kind of sound, drives him nuts, zanies makes a giggler eggplant that is so darn cute, makes a giggling sound that made Dillon nuts! He HAD to have it and shake it, plush hedgehog, big winner in my house , the pia lamb- oh boy that was a winner but easily destroyed but that is half the fun. 4) balls-the number one winner in our house is the kong squeakers (look like tennis ball material) football - that is still his favorite! the runner up is the planet dog orbee ball, it smells like peppermint and Dillon liked the way it felt when he chewed it.

I could go on forever...but the best thing is trial and error, i bought a lot of toys that lasted less than an hour before it was ripped to shreds, I also bought tougher toys that were ignored...so you just never know...each pup is different... Have fun shopping!!!! There are also a lot of fun websites that sell toys as well, if you are interested in some fun and interesting toys on line here are a few of my favorite places to shop:

www.sitstay.com
www.drsfostersmith.com
www.carealotpets.com
www.jbwholesale.com

There are so many others...Congrats again! It is so much fun!

Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas for toys
I was planning on buying the Kong...I can see her having tons of fun with that! My husband says that you can get some foam type stuff that you can put in there for them, has anyone ever seen that before? Might just have to stick some other treats in there for her

We should know in the next couple of days which female we will be getting.

Does anyone know what causes a "fluffy" Corgi? Because Female # 6 is definitely a "fluffy"!

I think a little while after we get her I will bring her to Petland with me and she can pick out her own toys

What brand of food does everyone feed their Corgi?

I feed a combo of : dry Wellness lamb formula mixed with the Wellness canned lamb and sweet potato , and a little bit of low fat organic plain yogurt and recently i have added a little bit of unsweetned canned pumpkin to keep him regular. I started Dillon out on Innova puppy food, it was a really good food.

Emilie,

I have that same blue swirly kong that you have. I have put regular peanut butter in there, but I also put in plain yogurt and freeze it overnight and then he can have that as a treat mid-morning - he loves that.

Cody also loves the hedgehog that makes a honking noise, he likes the Flying Squirrel frisbee. He has a duck and frog that when you squeeze them , they make the appropriate sounds and also a Gorilla which he loves to toss around.

His most favorite ball is a Babble Ball. I have 3 different kinds. I have not seen them in stores but www.onlynaturalpets.com carries them and maybe some other places. They make all sorts of animals noises and say phrases just by him pushing them around with his nose and you can replace the batteries. And he has a ball that lights up and makes laser noises when it bounces - sort of like a superball. I just buy most of my toys from the local pet shops such as Petco and PetSmart

Cody is on the Natural Balance Food by Dick Van Patten. Emilie has listed some good links to get things from and I will add two more. They are:

www.jefferspet.com
www.petqwerks.com - can hear the babble ball on this one. You may be able to order it directly from them, not sure.

Mine eats Canidae All Life Stages, with some raw on the side. >^_^<

The "fluffy" trait is a submissive gene, and a normal-looking dog can carry it. Mix two of these dogs and you'll have fluffies in your litter. >^^;<

Shippo likes rope toys, kongs, squeaky toys (although he destroys them so fast now I don't get them much anymore), hooves (although stinky) those weird Petstages toys... Also, he LOOOOOVES the cat dancer! It's the feathers on the end of the stick the cat is supposed to chase, but I think Shippo likes it even more than the cat does! Also, he plays with ice cubes and carrots lmfao...

That is funny, I have the Cat dancer and Cody loves those type of toys - he just has to butt right in when I use that thing for the cats

That's recessive, not submissive. Both the sire and dam have to be carriers and there is a one in four chance a puppy will end up being a fluffy. Fluff carriers can produce litters with not one fluffy or the whole litter can end up being fluffy or there can be a combination of normal and fluffy coats.

Sorry, I guess I only had it half right... Wrong terminology and wrong math and wrong wording (I didn't actually mean there was 100% chances of a fluffies in a litter, but now that I read what I said it sure sounds like it)! >X.x;< It's been a long day and I'm braindead.

Ok, here is the article I was trying to find earlier, but I couldn't find it so instead, I just blurted it out the best I could, which didn't go so well... >-.-;<

So much for first impressions lol...

Dillon also has an affinity towards the cat toys, one in particular. I bought this little chipmonk toy for my girls, it has catnip in it, and crackly sounding, and small. Well day one, i found dillon with it, so i took it away and gave it back to the cats, then later i found him with it again, so now i let him play with it ( supervised only as i dont want him ripping it apart and eating the catnip, not sure what effect if any that might have on a dog) and we play a get the chipmonk game where i make it hide under my legs and he tries to dig it out , or shove his nose under my leg to get it...it makes for a laughing good time for all...

I also got one of the life stages toys that is a light blue jack that you can stuff food into the "arms" of the jack and it is a rubber type toy like a kong but when you throw it it bounces irratically and makes the pups crazy, and it is designed for puppies.

THe toys that linda mentioned, that talk and make appropriate animal noises, scare the crap out of DIllon! LOL!!! I will try again, but the monkey really scared him ...so much for the big tough corgi ---NOT!

oh and on the fluffy front, I know of a very highly regarded breeder in MA ( Heronsway) who had bred two lovely champion dogs, and somewhere in their lines ( undetected for many generations) was a recessive fluffy gene, and she had a litter of 8 puppies, ALL FLUFFIES! Needless to say she wont be breeding those two again ! but all her puppies are highly desired so they all have wonderful homes...and what could be cuter than a little fluffly pup- talk about a little bear! Dillon's from a litter of three, his two brothers, both fluffies..and Gosh were they the cutest little things-
