Dear Michael,
The corgi bronze in Christchurch is something I would like to see. Finding it through a web search proved fruitless. Do you have any other information about it? foolish movie people to not jump at the chance to have a corgi star in the production... Do NZ corgis enjoy ice cream? I did. No new corgi sightings to report, but a lovely little girl was at the vet a couple of weeks ago. She was a "day boarder" that comes on an irregular basis so there is a chance to see her again.

Hi Tana, maybe someday we'll waltz in to your Petsmart! I will keep my eyes out for Dave and Ruby at Rice. I work not too far away in the Med Ctr. I parked at the MFAH last month and I saw an older gentleman walking down the street with his large, older black-tri Corgi! They were so cute together.

Red Headed - I posted a photo on Go Corgi several months ago and if you do a search on Corgi monuments on Go Corgi you just might find it.
NZ icecream is probably the best in the world. I have a friend who is part owner of an icecream factory and in the eighties and ninties he use to export his icecream to the Soviet Union where only the rich could afford a 2 litre carton of icecream - it was worth about one third of the average weekly wage of a Russian. Whereas in NZ, icecream is cheap - currently between $2 and $4 for a carton - and its all full cream. A shop keeper once gave my previous Pem, Hadlee a cone of icecream and Hadlee refused it. The shop guy said that was the first dog that ever refused an icecream. Hadlee didn't like the stuff.. But Taylor just loves anything creamy. |

Dear Michael,
Christchurch's corgi sculptures are "fabulous and fantastic" (the description used by a Hollywood person, many, many years ago). WHAT A CORGI SIGHTING!!! To see them in person is another good reason to return to NZ. As for icecream, I agree that NZ probably has the best. It come in many flavours (note spelling) which are not available in the USA, at least I have not found them. My sampling started in Auckland the day my flight arrived and continued until the day before I returned to the USA. Come to think of it, we were served icecream on Air New Zealand. It is almost impossible to imagine a corgi that would refuse an icecream cone. Would Hadlee eat cheese? I can recommend NZ cheese, too. and then there is Pavlova...

When you return to NZ - and I hope soon - I will take you to the Kapiti Icecream outlet - not far outside of Wellington - which is NZ's best and most expensive icecream and fit for Corgis (the ones without the chocolate) and enthusiasts. Kapiti icecream and Kapiti cheeses are on menus at NZ's best restaurants. Some of the flavours you wouldn't believe.
Prior to Taylor, I wasn't one for giving my Corgis cheese. But when I use to buy a lot of goat's cheese, the Corgis I had then just loved it. Those Corgi sculptures in Christchurch are definitely unique. Not one but three. I'd definitely go to Christchurch and feed them with icecream and AAFCO-approved dog food. |

Ha ha, Linda - I'm not sure. All we talked about were our dogs!
And BayouCorgi, we'd welcome you! And I hope maybe you run into Dave & Ruby.

My last corgi sighting was totally unexpected. The Capital Press, an agriculture oriented weekly published in Salem, Oregon, had a Pembroke corgi in a photo. The caption included Daisy's name and breed, even though the story was about calving heifers, not dogs. Daisy was helping with a new calf (actually she was pushing the snow with her nose). Obviously she made an impression on the writer.

I was talking with a gal at work the other day about her GSD's (two) . She was telling about going to a dog park not far from here where there was every type of dog known running around from Dobermans and Mastiffs to beagles. She told me there was a cute little red and white dog with short legs and no tail..."looked like a big rabbit", running around trying to get all the dogs in one place. She further said, "I don't know what he was but he moved like lightning around those other dogs" just like he was twice their size". I couldn't help but laugh and told her that was no doubt a fearless Corgi.

We had a corgi sighting today too! The couple had their male 3 yr old corgi with them..he was close to Ponzo's size in length but weighed 5 lbs more than him. Also, go figure, he had a mature and developed head and snout, unlike some corgi that I live with, HAha! So he looked older, since our dog is the eternal puppy boy. Ponzo and other corgi had a blast greeting other dogs that came down the aisle, they acted exactly the same. It was priceless! Also, this corgi loves to be held like a baby just like Ponzo. I love seeing other corgis and the owner even said, " Hey, now it's Corgyn!" I loved it!

I didn't have a corgi sighting, but my husband did. He was driving down the road in the town 20 miles from us. He said there were two corgis playing in a front yard. He didn't get a good look at them to get any details. I asked him why he didn't turn out and get a good look. He thinks I'm nuts!
