Hi Liz
Sending a deposit is a hard-nosed business deal, don't you think? It seems to suggest that the breeder is railroading you into buying one of her pups when it actual fact, you do view the puppies, you may decide that none of them are what you want, or up to the standard you expected or prepared to pay the full price for.
Will the breeder refund your deposit if you decide not to take up your option?

She said she would refund it if none of the puppies worked for me. She said it just helps her if she has a check with a date in case there were several people wanting a puppy, she could just go by the date order instead of having to choose herself who does and does not get a puppy.

Hi Liz, my little boy is so precious, and he thinks he is a big as my other corgis, and they all play together and have a big time. I have named him Walter. He is beginning to recognize his name now when called. He is really a beautiful baby, and already a big part of our family.I just cannot get enough of these corgis, they are so unique and i swear they act like real people. Betty Ann also wanted a deposit on my babies, but she accepted $50.00. I did not mind as I wanted to make sure the baby was mine.I also was shown pictures so i could choose. You will not be sorry getting a cardi. You have to live with one to understand what i am talking about.I will never own another breed! Molly

We'll be getting our puppy in 2 weeks! We are very excited. He appears to be a clear red but he has blue chips in his eyes so Susan beleives he is genetically a blue merle. Because fo that he can not be shown. But we don't care aobut that. We just want him as a pet. But I understand that pets can still compete in some competitions like agility. Can anyone tell me more about that. Can the handler be a child?

Liz2001

I was reading one of your threads from way back in March and you had asked about Corgis and cats. I have 3 cats and a 5 month old Corgi(Pembroke) who I got at 12 weeks old. The Cats and my dog, Cody, are all residing pretty well now, but in the beginning it was a bit stressful. Cody was always chasing the cats and wanting to play and they were not in the least bit interested - even though my cats had lived with another dog before - having a NEW PUPPY in the house is totally different for the cats, new smells, more activity;Cody had not been exposed to cats before we got him. however, after 2 months, all has settled down quite well and they are all getting along pretty well. Just remember to teach your Corgi that chasing the cats is a "no, No" or your cats will spend most of their time on the counters and other high places trying to get away from him. It will depend on the age of your cats - our 1 year old cat was the most tolerable with Cody, our 12 year old was the least tolerable with him and the middle cat didn't like the dog either. Good luck.

Congratulations, it sounds like you are very excited.

Linda

I know a lot of US people keep plugging it but 4H is awesome for kids to show and stuff. I am not sure about other competition stuff though. I know dogs not show quality can do agility stuff though. There is also something called Flyball. I do not know a lot about whether kids can do that either but another thing you may want to check into. Not a lot of help advise wise but hoping to put ideas out there!

A similar question in another thread is about dog elligibility. In most countries in the world, all dog sports apart from conformation showing, are open to any dog - cross bred or a breed fault. And there are probably near two dozen different dog sports in the world.
