Question New Corgi Owner

I just brought home a new corgi pup, Toby, and when I got him 2 days ago (he's 12 weeks old) his ears were tall and perky just like they should be. After the first day the right ear started drooping and then on the second day both ears became droopy. Is this any cause for concern? He's obviously still getting used to his new home, crate training, and we went to the vet today so the little guy has certainly been through a lot. Just wondering if I should start thinking about taping his ears? Or can a little stress pull a Corgi's ears down? And I'm not sure how I should even go about taping his little ears. Any advice is very welcome!

Hu Jeff and Toby.
If Toby's ears were completely upright when you first brought him home, then I would say that he will slot them back in the erect position in a few days. Just make sure you keep him on a puppy diet that incorporates all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that a puppy requires and he should grow strong bone and stable ears.

Stress of the change of homes could be a factor. He is also probably beginning to teeth and ears can drop during that time and then come back up.

As for diet, Toby's breeder's recommendation would be my suggestion to follow. There are many threads on diet, nutrition, recommended foods which have all led to highly spirited debates. IF you are interested in that topic, a search of the archives will give more reading than you might want to do right now.

Welcome to the board!

welcome Jeff and Toby, My Dillon had some huge ears that took a bit of time to come up, when we brought him home at nearly 11 wks of age he had one that flopped over and when that one finally stood up the other flopped.. It takes some time for them to both come up and stay up. He would also sleep on his ears at night causing them to fold and stay flopped. We did eventually tape his ears but that was when he was about 4 1/2 months old and we were still struggling with one ear... it takes some time... Now, you must post some photos! we love to see corgis here!

Thank you all so much for nice welcome!!! I am going home right now to upload some pictures. He is already fetching his little teddy bear and since he is so short he tends to stumble over it. He is so awesome!!!

Here are some pictures of Toby when his ears were up. He loves his little bear! I just tried to use the leash for the first time...I think I'm going to check out the archives on that as well! HA!

What a sweet little guy. I'll bet he jealously guards his Teddy, too. I'm going to have to get one of those furry lounges like his for the living room for watching what little TV I see. Looks so comfortable and I'll be he loves it.

What a cute puppy! Like the others have said, I wouldn't worry too much about his ears. My pup is 14 weeks old and her ears are exactly like Toby's. One up and one flopped.
