As far as stuffed toys, I just bought Duncan a Tuffie toy and he hasn't destroyed it yet. He is notorious for disemboweling his stuffed toys within minutes if not hours after getting them. They are rather pricey, but you can get them on Ebay starting around $14 plus shipping.

A good brush would be the Furminator. It does wonders taking the dead hair out and when they blow their coat.

I agree, I have a whole box of toys for Lucy! You also might want some potty pads for the kennel and the ride home. I brush Lucy every week. I hope you have alot of luck with the breeder. I am excited for you. Puppies are so much fun, even when they are being naughty.

Mrs Grace,

I am really hoping this works out for you and you can get in touch with her soon. You'll have so much fun training your new puppy to be a well behaved member of your family, which is what we all desire.

Please keep us posted.

Oh sweetie, you are priceless. I'm sure she had a ball with them through those 8 or 9 years she was spending in her dog house on those cold below freezing winter nights. What a relief it must be to you, your mom found a heart and has finally let her old bones have a warm dry place to sleep in the house.

Although I'll have to say, I was surprised at what you chose to comment upon. Given all the experience you've had contacting breeders, I was expecting insight and wisdom in that realm.

Debbie

It is really common sense in my opinion. You want a breeder who cares about her puppies. Most of the time a breeder won't let you have the puppy till it is about 3 months old. This way the puppies learn how to play nice. It is kind of hard. I went and bought a book and just did what the book told me.

Also it was not my choice it was up to my mom to let her in the house. I am delighted, because it is nice to have a slobbering dog who waits at the door for me. Goodness I love her. I really do, you guys may not thinks so, but I know so. Lucy is funny to watch walk around. She kind of trots if you know what I mean. It is adorable, but funny at the same time.

Mrs. Grace:

Congrats on the puppy! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I truly hope there is a puppy in this litter for you.

I was volunteering at a Teacup Agility Trial today (left the dogs home). There was a woman w/ a Papillion in the trial and she brought her dog's litter of 4 eight week old pups.

OMG!!!! They were so sweet. Three families came to the trial site to see the pups. I overheard she was asking $1400 for them.

Oh my, thats alot of money. The mother must be a great dog. Papillion pups are really adorable. I got a chance to meet one at an agitiy trial and she was so cute and sweet.

MrsGrace, I'm getting so excited for you
I don't think I can offer any better advice about breeder, testing, etc. than you are already getting (didn't do a great job of it myself ) but I wanted to suggest the PuppyKong toys. They don't seem to be as hard as the regular kongs and they fit better in the mouths of puppies.

I'm so excited for you!

Thanks guys!!

I emailed the breeder again and finally got a reply. She had a HUGE litter it seems like. And yes, she has a waiting list, but she said that it's not necessarily filled in order of request, because most of the people on her list are waiting for a specific puppy type/style. I think she's finally figuring out too that I'm in another state from her, and that may be an issue. I've heard that a lot of breeders like to place puppies closer to home. I told her, if it's an issue, let me know so I can continue my search.

On a side note, a breeder close to me emailed and said she was having a "puppy/corgi fun day" today, where she invites her former puppies over, to play with her new puppies and it would be a GREAT opportunity to see how our daughter would react around a bunch of corgis etc. So we packed up today and went.

The breeder.... LOVED... absolutely ADORED my daughter and my husband and myself. Turns out, she tells EVERYONE that she doesn't have animals available until she can meet a couple (the whole household preferably) and get a feel for them.

She does have puppies available. 3 males, all showcoat/non-fluffy. One (the biggest male puppy) she said was the sweetest so far, and that she had intended to show him, but he had a testicle not decend. Okay... he is AWESOME. Total snuggler, attentative and ADORABLE....

I told her right away, I was working with another breeder who just had a litter, so I had to give her the first chance, but if that didn't work... absolutely we would be interested in speaking with her some more.

Oh who am I kidding... it was a GREAT day. 4 or 5 corgi puppies meandering around, my daughter playing NICELY with all the puppies AND the older corgis (there were 6 or 7 older corgis there too that just LOVED kids and were great with her). Shoot, even the hubby fell in love, even though it would be my dog. (well, it is a family dog, but he's rarely home, so it would be on me to train, take care of etc, so we agreed to call it MY dog!! )

OMG... my buttons are bursting... CORGI BUNNY BUTT OVERLOAD!!!

Of course, the camera died after ONE picture, but I'll load it up and post it in the next 30 min.

*bounce bounce* The puppies are 10 weeks now, and the breeder gal suggested that I wait until the puppies are 14-16 weeks old, just to make sure that they are tough/smart enough to be around my daughter.

All the male puppies were cute, and the gal is asking $800 for them, plus a neuter contract, first right of refusal if it didn't work out etc.

Can you tell I'm excited?!?!

The one picture to come....
