Do tell! I could use all the help I could get!

Okay, here's my list so far:

1. Kongs, lots of kongs (we went through a ton of these a day with the husky we rehab'd)
2. Crate
3. Food dishes (suggestions? What works best with Corgis?) Can I go cute ceramic or am I better off with heavy weighted bowls? Should they be raised up any?
4. Toys
5. Treats
6. Leashes (training leads incl), collars for each season
7. Clicker, targets, more treats, more toys....
8. Anything that strikes my fancy....

And of course, I sew. So I'm looking forward to some fun coats to keep doggie out of the rain, keep the fluffy buns dry and muck free (as I can). Maybe some silly doggie costumes for halloween.... *le' sighs*

congrats mrsgrace- you are doing a great job finding that perfect puppy! you did forget the most important thing on your shopping list though.....
collars!!!!

i am a collar fanatic. I mean, my guys have probably ten or twelve collars each. you can never have too many!!!! even though some will say why buy a nice collar so that puppy can grow out of it in two weeks- i say buy adjustable it'll last you at least till he's five months old....well worth the $!!!!
collars make me soooo happy!!!
(in case you couldn't tell!)

seriously though; you and your family will be GREAT dog owners!! Your daughter is super cute by the way!

I really like stainless bowls with the rubber ring on the bottom so they don't slide around. Millie can push a dish to Timbuck2 trying to get every molecule of food out of the darn thing.

I am way behind on this thread, but I wanted to say Congrats on potentially finding a pup! I'm sure you will be a great owner; it just really stinks waiting to bring the puppy home
We have ceramic bowls here and they seem to work pretty good. I have used to stainless steel bowls in the past as well, but found that those were easier to tip over. Just a side note, before you go and buy a lot of kongs, you may want to make sure that your pup likes them. Dudley didn't give his kongs the time of day until he was about 7 months old, and then he tore it apart in one day

I am collar crazy like Amanda - Old Navy has terrific snap collars that are very good quality and are very inexpensive - I think we have a collar for every holiday and special occassion!!

I agree with Jeni on the Kongs - none of mine were interested in chewing them - the only thing I did use them for was to stuff with Cheez Whiz or peanut butter to keep them occupied when I went out.

I recommend a treat ball - couldn't live without them to this day. Start with a little one now and then move up to the big organge ball. They have a hole where you put bits of treats and they roll them around and get the treats as they fall out. Both my dogs get their treatballs as I walk out the door to go to work.

I also recommend an Xpen - bigger is better as they fold to the size and shape you need. I've used mine as a playpen for the pup until they could be big enough to be out on their own and when I've gone visiting to friends who have no backyard fence - a good investment.

*puts Old Navy on the shopping list*

Amanda, I believe if you check my list again, you'll note under number 6, subsection 2... Har har, that was a joke... but, I did list collars! I love making tubular collar "covers", elasticized tubes that go over plain jane collars for any holiday. Quick to take off and wash, EASY to make, very cute and I get to go to my favorite store... the Fabric/Craft store!!

Thank you for the comments, everyone. *goes back to her lists*

Congrats on finding a breeder.

A very nice lady sent my two chipmunks Old Navy collars for the boat and they are excellent quality and beautifully detailed with ships anchors. I would also like to recommend the babble ball - you can order them online at Jeffers Pets. My boys loved theirs until a robber came in the middle of the night and stole the ball right out from under their noses while they were sleeping. Never has been seen since.

Babble ball? Is that kind of a glorified treat ball?

Robbers? Seriously or is it like my daughters toys... where things <ahem> dissappear for a while once they become too annoying? We have "little people" here that take things... the wee folk of Ireland. Leprechauns and the like! Well, at least, that's what we tell our daughter...

You gonna want a good stain remover and lots of potty pads for the crate. Also love the silly doggie costumes!!!

This is Cody's number one favorite toy. MrsGrace, it is a hard ball, but when they push it with their nose, it will say silly phrases or there is another one that makes different animal noises. Cody loves these. They have the older ones and the new generation ones(where you can replace the batteries) The balls cost about $8 for the new generation ones, however, the replacement batteries run about $7 as you will need 3 of them - so almost better to just get a new ball, however, you will have to pay shipping - I have not been able to find them in any stores around here.

Here is the site to check them out.(click on products and babble balls)
