Corgi tomorrow!!! w/ question lol

I'm getting my new Corgi puppy tomorrow!! It's a boy and we had a look at him the other day and just fell in love!! I'll post pictures after I get him tomorrow!! I'm so excited!

I have a question though..
The breeder started housetraining him to go on puppy pads, but I want to train him to go in a box (like a kitty litter thing). Does anyone have any tips for getting him to "upgrade" from peeing onto the pads to doing it in the box? I was thinking of putting pads/newspapers inside the box and around it, then slowly removing the pads around the box until its only inside the box. Does that sound ok? (Sorry if its confusing!)

Yep, that's exactly what we did. If you have some of the dog litter like "Yesterdays News" just gradually sprinkle it onto the pads, but putting the pad in the box is definitely the first step.
