14 weeks and 14.3 lbs - 10-01-2007, 12:06 PM

Hi everyone

Peanut is currently 14 weeks old and a whopping 14.3lbs! He was one of the largest out of the litter and nearly double the size of the smallest runt when we got him from the breeder. The vet checked him out over the weekend and said that he wasn’t overweight. I was wondering if this is a normal puppy weight and if anyone has any puppy similar?

Thank you!

Yikes! That's big! As I recall, Oliver weighed about that much. But my little Simon is 13 weeks old and weighs just over 6 lbs. As long as the vet says eveything is okay, I wouldn't worry.

That's perfectly normal. 1 pound per week of age. Until about 5 mos. or so.

He's not big, he's average. Right where he should be.

At the New Zealand national dog show, I noticed two Pem puppies in two all breed finals both judged by foreign judges. One was in the Puppy under 12 months sweepstakes and was among seven finalists. He was as leggy as (his tummy way off the ground) and as big as. Not my type as a show speciman. The female Pem pup going for the best baby (under 4 months) pup in show was exactly the opposite - small, slim but very lovely and perky and a real showgirl.

Hi Sarah and Peanut,

Just wondering what Peanut is weighing now since he a Charlie are 2 days apart in age. I guess Charlie is just a little guy. He just got up to 12 lbs at 17.5 weeks, but he has gained about a pound a week since I got him.

Hi Chris and Charlie

Since my bf’s sister is our vet, we did Peanut’s last exam in-home. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to a accurate updated weight. However last night I weighed Peanut on a scale (first weight myself, and then myself + Peanut) and he’s about 18 lbs! The vet said he might get on the “pudgy” side, so we have cut back the amount of food he eats

Good for Charlie, great to hear he's climbing the double digits!

Seems like Peanut is right on track, and one and a half times the dog that Charlie is. LOL

I've got Charlie on a bland diet of boiled chicken, rice and a little yogurt this week because we're still having some "runny butt" problems. Normally he eats two cups of puppy kibble every day. How much is Peanut eating a day?
