Today I was on the phone with a family member and Cody was barking over
by the corner of the sofa where a lamp sits on a coffee table. Anyway, I
went over there thinking he must have shoved his little ball behind the sofa
as he always does and he wanted me to get it.

There was no ball or toy and I walked away and he jumped up on the sofa
with feet hanging over the arm of the sofa and continued to bark like crazy
while looking at the lamp.

So back I came to see what the problem was and here the Cord on the lamp had been chewed through(probably by my cats) and there were sparks coming out of the cord and I could smell them also. Thanks to Cody, he alerted me to that.

I really could not believe it.

There is no doubt that dogs that like being busy little beavers ie alert and alive and have that x-factor intelligence, can do these acts to alert people to a danger or potential danger or something else that's not quite the normal thing. And these actions seem to be well within the framework of dogs that are still puppies.
