Taylor is 13 inches at the shoulder and 23 inches from the top of his neck to the bottom of his tail bone. As I have always said, he is slightly above average for a normal size male Pem. His height and with his stomach well away from the ground, is great for agility.
Emma and Chloe are fairly big in size for females.

I thought you measure from the shoulder to base of tail for length...is that not right? And from top of shoulder blade to floor when standing...
ahh and yes Taylor is a little taller...

I measured their length from the base where their neck and back meet - I thought that was how the book explained it. But I may be wrong. Both of My Girls are the same right now between 21 and 22 inches - but I've always thought Emma is a little on the small size. Chloe being only 10 mths may keep growing.

Ruby is 38 lbs, but she is a Cardigan and they are slightly bigger than the Pembroke. She is not really fat but is a big female. The breed std for a female Cardigan is 34 lbs. max.

Dudley (cardi) is 26 lbs at 8 months. He has kind of stalled on gaining weight the last few months so I don't really know how much bigger he will get, although he still has some filling out to do.

Dudley will not look 'comfortable' in weight ratio to height at his present weight - but he is only a pup still and Corgis continue to develop past 18 months of age.

Just rechecked the Pembroke standard and measurement of height is taken from the withers to the ground. The withers is the highest point on Corgis backs on the ridge between their shoulder blades. The standard height is 10 to 12 inches.
Length is taken from the withers to the base of the tail. And the standard says that length should not be more than 40 percent greater than the height.

So Taylor is 13 inches in height and his length (as per above) is 19 inches - which makes him longer than the standard ( 13 inches plus 40 percent = 18.2 inches).

I must say that the true length of a Corgi's body is from their chest to their tail base.

Ollie is 6 months on the 23rd and is 24.6 lbs. To me he looks a little thin and is a bit lanky but I know he still has growing to do. Both his mother and father were quite large so we will see what happens.

Shila - If Ollie is not yet 6 months old and weighs 24.6 lbs, he should not be classified as lanky. Of course, he might be an extra large Corgi but quite often this kind of assessment is in the eye if the beholder - ie you are judging him by the way you view Corgis based on what might be entrenched in your mind.
Corgi puppies should be a little chubby.

Well then I definitely measured wrong! Thanks for explaining Michael - I was thinking the top of the shoulder would be the spine and I measured length at the base of their neck - must go back and try again.

Shila - at 6 months Chloe was lanky and had no puppy fat left. She is 10 months now and is more muscular and her chest is filling out. I saw your new pictures of Ollie and he is a handsome young man.

Darci at 2 1/2 yrs old is 13" tall and 21" long and weighs 26 lbs.
Egan is only 7 1/2 months old and weighs 22 lbs.

Our vet would actually like to see Darci loose 1 lbs.

Egans mom was 22 lbs and his dad was 25 lbs.

I cant imagine a vet saying a 45 lb corgi is ok, need another vet in my opinion.

The more weight a corgi carries puts them at greater risk for ortho and other health problems, as well as aggravating HD. Everything I have learned puts the leaner corgi's as healthier.

Okay for Rupe measuring as Michael said to, is 14 inches at the shoulder and 23 inches from withers to tail base. Yup, he was supersized at birth! He'll be five in February.

Jemma at 9 months is 11 inches at the shoulder and 19 inches long. She weighs 21.5 pounds.

For those of you measuring, be sure you are measuring from the withers. To translate it a little more clearly - maybe (???) think like the shoulder blades. (????) Or I may have muddied it more.
