Rescued corgi "Bunny"
Hello all,
It has been a while since I posted here. Wendy is still hanging in there, still incontinent, still can't figure her bladder infection out, still a very sweet dog. The rescue lady who brought her to us contacted me this weekend - apparently she had taken on some dogs from someone who had WAY too many. Several of them (6 or 7?) were corgis. One in particular reminded her of Wendy so she called to see if I would be interested. As it turns out, Bunny (the new rescue) and Wendy don't get along as well as might be hoped, so she won't be joining us. HOWEVER... Bunny is a nice dog, between 1 and 2 years old, seems to be a quick learner and has lots of energy. She appears to be healthy, weighs an appropriate amount and has the softest hair of any corgi I've met. She would probably make a great agility dog - she is an astonishing jumper! She is at our house now, but will probably be looking for a new home within a week or so. I thought I'd put the word out in case anyone is seeking a new little friend. I had a tough time taking pictures (every time I knelt down, she ran over to me), but I'm attaching a couple. |

My rescued Corgi (between 4 and 6 years old, was never confirmed) had some difficulty with incontinence. Nothing major but she would "leak" from time to time. Took her to a vet that decided some type of infection initially and put her on antibiotics and was talking about xrays and surgery when I took her to a different vet. He mentioned a problem with muscle tone in fixed females. He gave her some type of steroid which was quick and cheap and that fixed it immediately. Ended up having to give her a round of the steroids about every 6 months or so, but that would fix it every time. She ended up staying with my ex a couple years ago so I don't know how the problem progressed but the pills took care of it cheaply and easily for a couple years.

You don't happen to remember the name of the steroids, do you? I just took my Foxy to the vet today, and they think she has the same issue with incontinence due to low estrogen levels from being spayed. The vet I saw suggseted a hormone supp. that I would have to give her twice a week for life. I am not enthusiastic about hormone supplements, so if there is a steroid (or other treatment) that could work for her, I would rather do that. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks! Jennifer |

steroids
Sorry, I don't check threads on here very often. If you're still interested in the steroid shoot me an email and I'll get ahold of the vet and find out what it was. patman1971@yahoo.com
