This is a great site, and also has lots of Corgi items for sale. I hope you will all purchase next year's calendar when it becomes available (estimated pre-order date is Oct). Abby's photo should be on her barkday 18th Dec - anyone else from GoCorgi in the calendar ?

Hi-The Corgi Aid site is great. ANd all of the donations go to a such a worthy cause. There's also a link to cafepress.com and they have thousands of Corgi items for sale. I spent over 2 hours on it just looking around and checking out the other links. My poor husband is just holding his breath to see what the UPS man brings next!

I didn't know what Corgiaid was until I visited today. I also read the brave and generous article of Heidi. There are really caring people out there.

I just donated $50 to this charity. I have given to the poor and other charities before but this is the biggest amount I have ever donated. It's indeed a wonderful cause.

Has anyone else ever donated before?

Jackie's not in it, but I ordered the calendar the other day. Now I am extra-glad that I did, since Abby is in it!

I am going to send them a donation this year yet. I have on occasion sent money to rescues to help certain "senior" dogs (that I have seen on Petfinder) Nothing bothers me more than to see senior dogs tossed aside when they get too old and the family doesn't want to bother with their medical needs

Last year before I got Cody, my daughter and I sewed about 50 fleece pads for the cat cages at the Humane society - it was a fun project and they were thrilled to get them - I made them to fit the cages and of course made them in really cute prints that the cats would like

I donate to a feral cat organization, feline diabetes organization, to my local humane society, several no kill shelters and i will be giving to corgi aid as well, as i feel they do so much good. You know , linda, i love the idea of giving money to help out elderly pets. I went to our humane society last week and found so many pets there, elderly and thrown out for a bunch of really crappy reasons ( in my humble opinion). I wonder how someone can love a pet for 9 or 10 or 14 years ( yes there was a 14 yr old shih-tzu dog there thrown away because owner was moving) and then just toss them out when they become an inconvenience, siick, elderly or just require more time or care. I left that place in tears. It really breaks my heart. I have a 16 yr old cat named misty, who was diagnosed 5 yrs ago with diabetes. I was told at the time that maybe i should just put her to sleep because her care would be constant and i would have to give her shots etc and what kind of quality of life would she have. Well i am here to say that i made some sacrifices in my social life- i cant go to dinner for 6pm...i have to go out for dinner a little later, after she has had her shot...but so what is an hour to ensure a happy healthy kitty? I have done this for 5 yrs now, she has a wonderful quality of life, she is happy and isn't this the least i could do for her after 11 yrs of her being there for me? It is a small price to pay.

Linda, the idea of sewing the fleece pads is a great one, i sure wish i was a good sewer! I bet the cats loved them! what a loving thing to do with your daughter!

The people at the humane society liked the pads because they fit the cages and they didn't have to mess with folding up towels and old bed sheets that others donated. They said the cute prints made the "cats look More adoptable"

Our Humane society also has a guardian angel program where for $30 you help to feed and care for an animal for 1 month. They pick out which pet your money will go to and then they put it on their site along with the guardians name as sponsoring them - I have done that a couple of times in memory of my past pets.

And 1 1/2 years ago, they built a brand new humane society which is really beautiful - some lady who loved animals died of cancer and left 1.5 million dollars towards this new humane society(she had become ill during the planning of it and that is what she decided to do) - how awesome is that Anyway, they were offering different options to the public to also donate and one of them was that you could purchase a 12 x 12 inch floor tile for $125 and have inscribed on it, anything you wanted. So I purchased one in memory of my cat Sam because he had just passed away. It is so neat because the humane socity is so beautiful and they have this lovely floor filled with memory tiles that people purchased for their beloved pets. So Sam's name and our names are on this tile and a special "sentiment" to him that we had put on there; and it will be part of that forever.

They also had memory garden stones for their outdoor pathways for purchase at a lower price, and some other options for people also.

What a lovely idea- when my Clinton cat passed away, a friend of mine made a large donation to a non-kill very lovely cat shelter (they werent in metal cages, they were in small rooms with toys and beds, so lovely a place this is) in his name, and sent me a card - It touched my heart so , i still cry when i think of what a loving gift that was to help other needy cats in memory of my beloved boy.

That was a lovely thing for your friend to do and just the fact that your friend went out of her way to do this for him. So often people don't know what to do for the person that has lost their pet.

Every spring break I watch a neighbors cat while they vacation and she likes to give me money - which I don't want - so last year, she donated 1/2 of what she would have gave me to the humane society in my name(a much better idea)

I donated because Corgiaid does some really inspring things to corgis who are disabled, elderly, or just needs a little help.

Donations can come in money, time, and doing something for others. Kudos to Linda, Emilie, and those who have an altruistic heart.
