weights of your corgis

I was just wondering what the weight for many of your corgis are? Our oldest cardigan male who is 18 months is tipping the scales at the vets office at 36 pounds. He still looks thin and many people cannot believe that all that weight is there. I think I remember reading that adult male cardigans should be between 32 and 38 so I guess he is right in there as far as weight. Just curious about any other cardigans and their weight.

My Girls are Pems

Emma was 3 lbs overweight according to our Vet. She went on a diet and now weighs 25 Lbs - a good weight for her size

Chloe is one and still growing - she is 23 lbs, long and slim looking. I think she could go at least 3/5 lbs more and still be fit

The last time Zia was at the vet, she weighed 13 pounds. The other day I tried to weigh her at home. She weighs about 18 pounds now.

Checkers (Pembroke) weighed in last time at 30lbs near 1 year old and I wouldn't change a thing. I think his weight is spot on for his build.

Penny is a 24.4 lb, ~9 month old, female, Pem Corgi. Speaking of Corgis and weight, is anyone familiar with this story:

http://www.goldengatecorgis.org/articles/ss-feeding.htm

It's a little frightening, but has a happy ending.

Rhys and Andy both turned one in September:

He weighs 28 pounds and is at a good weight right now. (No extra cookies, though )
Andy, on the other hand, only weighs 18 pounds and looks like (as Jespah described her Jemma) "a torpedo with legs."

I would think that your Cardi at 36 pounds could lose a few pounds and it would be advantageous rather than detrimental. My adult Pem Taylor currently weighs 26 pounds - and he is a average size Pem.

The eldest Cardi male here now 11 years old, in his show prime could tip the scales near 40 pounds. He's an overall bigger male - more tubular body style. Now I keep him lower, maybe 37 or so due to a back injury. Don't want the stress of extra weight on his back.

The next Cardi male is 9 and he's a different body style - shorter, more cobby; 37 was his optimum show weight.

The baby Cardigan boy here (around 18 months) is probably around 32 pounds now. He has his father's body style (the senior Cardi here) longer and more tubular, just not quite as much leg. As he is still growing and filling out, not sure where he is going to end up weight wise.

The baby Cardi girls (18 - 20 weeks) are in about the 18 pound range.

Again, correct weight depends upon the overall size, balance, body type. 36 pounds sounds like it would be about right for your Cardigan boy.

Yes, I know Reba, now known Reba the svelte and her now owner. Don't know if Bonnie got to meet her owner at this past year's TN Picnic or not (Reba wasn't in attendance this last year, but has made appearances in past years.) She is doing very well and still maintaining a healthy weight.

I wish I could say that Duchess was at her optimum weight but she is carrying a few more pounds than is good for her. At 27 pounds she should be, maybe 24. This thread has been very sobering, reading about Reba again, and thinking of how easy it is to control what your dog eats? If it is that easy why can't I use the same logic to reduce my own weight?
It is an inspiration to know that Reba is healthy and happy after losing all those pounds.

Mine are both Pembrokes.

Jemma, the torpedo with legs, will be 1 next week and weighs about 21 pounds.

Rupert, the tank, almost 5 years, is down 8 pounds from his highest this summer, and is looking good at 36 pounds. (He is a big Corgi and this is a good weight for him).

I also have a pem and he is 14 months old and is 28 pounds. He is at a good weight, although I think he could be 30 pounds and still look good.
