Hi
Yes, A corgis ears says a lot - infinitely more than a tail would. Where they 'sit' on a Pem or a Cardi makes a lot of difference to the Corgis head/face and expression.
The American Pembroke Welsh Corgi club on the internet will give you a conprehensive rundown on ears and will quote the standard and you can also look up this one: www.akc.org/breeds/pembroke

I am not sure about the spacing and stuff but was excited to see a ears posting. My Pockets finally has 2 ears standing up for 5 days now. I was excited. We had an ear for a day and 2 earsfor half an hour that day. The next day we had 2 ears and now my mom says Pockets looks like a furby! He is adorable so I know I need new pics up soon!

It's a relief when both ears do become errect because one never knows if there is going to be a problem. Pocketsmom, your cutie Pem has a very nice dome head.

I don't mean to steal the thread, but I think this is pretty relevant. At what age will a corgis ears begin standing up? When should one consider the taping method (I know I have some time before Dudley's come up, but I'm hoping they come up on their own because I have no desire to do this whatsoever).

Also, Pockets is absolutely adorable!

I got Chip when he was about 7 weeks and one of his ears was up already. The breeder had taped his other ear but taken the tape off before I picked him up. Both of his ears were up a week or two later. I have a picture of him with his ear taped and he looks so sad

You'll find lots of posts on ears in Go Corgi through our archives ie advance search: Ears.
Both ears in a Corgi should be up by the time they are aged three months.

Pockets had one ear at 8 1/2 weeks and the other a day later. He was the last one to get his ears up. He was also the largest boned which my breeder told me can sometimes be a factor. I will have to update his pictures!

I think it is a little early to tell whether or not Pockets' head will retain the dome shape and dome, just for the record, is not a preferred head shape. That isn't a derogatory statement about Pockets at all, because he is a real cutie . Rather if anyone here is trying to learn about correct conformation, then correct information needs to be passed along.

A correct head should be foxy in shape and appearance; the skull should be fairly wide and flat between the ears. Rounded, apple-domed skulls are incorrect.

Just remember, there are no perfect dogs of any breed, even the most decorated champion has faults.

I am not familiar with a lot of the standards as I was not looking to show anyway. He is looking more like a fox with his ears up though. My dogs are not shown and are my pets and I love them and they are well taken care of so feel free to use him as a reference for anything.

Thanks for understanding. Just from the set of the ears in his photo, I'm inclined to believe his head will level out and some of the domey look is due to the ears beginning to come up. Once the ears are up, one gets a real different look.

As it should be! In the dog show world, the best dog on the day is the one you go home with - afterall, it is the one that gets to share your bed.
