What list of things did she give you that she tests for? The DM test is relatively new and while possible to do in Germany (you are importing your puppy right?) it might not be readily available. Even in the US, the cheek swab tests were out of stock prior to Christmas.

New to this forum, thank you for posting replies. This dog is 9, lovely Pembroke who I have known and loved since a puppy. last march suddenly stopped cocking his leg and started to squat. Last few months his back left leg is folding over towards the other leg and elderly owner has to stop, put it up again, then he goes bit further and it does it again. Happening more and more. Its a vicious circle, he is overweight but the leg is more down than up now and his other leg cannot support him so walking is limited. Vet has done xrays and tests at cost of £1400, then referral vert done MRI scans which all show nothing and has cost a further £2400. Pet insurance is now well over the max.. He is not in any pain at all, and eating well and happy in himself. Now suggesting a course of hydrotherapy and acupuncture. Hydro is going to cost £500 but she still does not have a clue what is causing all this. If anyone can suggest what to do next that would be great. The owner herslelf is 82 and disabled after a knee op went wrong. advice on what she should do next from anyone would be so helpful. She cannot use computers.

The best advice I can give if for you to join Wheel Corgis in her stead. A daughter recently joined seeking help for her elderly Mother and her corgi, a very similar situation to the one you have found yourself in. There are files uploaded that you can print out and share with her, as well as, a lot of suggestions you could print out and give to her.

wheelcorgis : Corgis on Wheels

The water therapy would be good, help hold and hopefully build up muscle. Acupuncture can be of help too.

Getting some weight off - better to work on that by cutting back on the amount fed than using exercise under the circumstances.

Sounds a lot like DM to me. Physical therapy and there are exercises she can do with him in the files of the list, can help keep him mobile longer. Eventually she may want to look into a cart.

My girl is DM clear through parentage. Both have been tested, and tested clear.

I'm thankful that my mentor is as conscientious as she is. Please check your PMs and you can see her website.

CardiGirl and I are on the same page now. The reason for my question was because her darling blue is coming from Germany and there are some restrictive regulations in place before breeding, including health testing. I was curious to see if DM was now on the list of required testing there. CardiGirl's breeder/mentor is someone I know from the ShowCardi list and am very familiar with her stance and passion on health testing.

I really lucked out when I met her. She's been such a wealth of everything Cardi that if I ever was going to breed, I would want to be just like her.
