Weepy eye..

Ponzo has had watery eyes since we brought him home at 7 weeks. Some days he doesn't get any, some times it seems like I wipe his eyes every 20 minutes! Our vet said that as long as it is clear, it's no problem. Every morning, I hold his face and wipe his eyes with my thumbs...then, here's the gross part, he licks it off my finger. In the morning they tend to be a bit brown boogerish, but then its just clear the rest of day. Allergies is what my vet said it probably is, to what I don't know but I know on days when I have worse allergies, pollen and what not, his eyes seem to be more teary too. Nothing to worry about!

Rhys only has "eye boogers" in the morning. One time, however, he had horrible eye gunk that would build up periodically during the day...I took him to the vet (he was also reverse sneezing a lot) and we found out that he had a doggy "cold"!
Two weeks of antibiotics cleared it up, though.

When I moved from Las Vegas to California when I married, all sorts of allergies popped up, never had a problem before, but my eyes just always seem to water. When I go home to Las Vegas and work, NO problem, and I love it. Miss Gambler seems to be the opposite, she's fine here, but when we hit the desert, they water constantly.

Fluffypants: If Miss Gambler could drive, she would be on the Strip every night. She gets such looks in Las Vegas. The only Corgi that I, or my vet there, have even come close to hearing about there had been turned into a shelter because of it's disposition and had been sent to the prison there where they have a program where inmates foster dogs and socialize them. The Corgi was featured on the local news and was the most well behaved in the group! Maybe Corgis don't like the desert heat. I know that Miss Gambler was born and shipped from snow and blizzard conditions, had never even been outside except for the vet wellness check and to be shipped, and when it hits 115 degrees in Las Vegas, she does not want to go outside at all.

I wouldn't want to either!!! Maybe her eyes water from the, brightness, dryness and/or blowing sand in LV? Get her some sun doggles! She can wear them while she drives The Strip!!! Celebrity Corgi on the prowl!!

LittlePonzo - don't feel bad . . . Jackie likes to eat her eye boogers too. She's gross!

Fluffypants: sorry to get off topic here, but just had to tell you, every time I see your avitar I can't help but think of the street that I used to live on in Las Vegas, White Tail Drive. Thought I would share that.

Miss Gambler - Irrespective of how many vets and eye specialists your Corgi sees(oh, the pun), weepy eyes are not normal for Corgis and there has to be a cause. She can have perfectly healthy eyes and vision - but there still must be a cause ie a reason for her condition.

Hi guys thank you so much for all the Advice..will definitely have her looked at again..It seems to be clear watery discharge and not anything coloured..her eye is not painful at all and her eyesight is 100% because she often chases round mosquitoes in the evening..!! Weather in Durban is pretty hot and humid in summer with temperatures hovering around the 30 Degrees Celsius and in winter it cools down to a more moderate 20 degrees

Hi everyone, long time no post!

This is Spoilt and Rotten's mama here and Rotten has ONE weepy eye. It just waters is all. Vet said it is more than likely allergies as here in Houston there is quite a bit of pollen etc. floating around here right now. No discoloration, no staining, but it doesn't happen in the other eye, only the one. Spoilt's eyes don't weep at all. I did have a scarey head bobbing incident with him though. I think I tracked it to a flea mousse.
