Lady has never had that happen to her. She will have some eye "boogers" from time to time.

Cody doesn't have that either; could she have allergies to something?

Tuck has had weepy/goopy eyes periodically. I've had him to the Vet 3 times for it. The last exam was very thorourgh (checked tear ducts, checked cornea for scratches, ph, etc). Basically they chalk it up to allergies, dust and dirt. We tried antibiotic drops but my Vet last told me as long as there is no infection (color to the goop) to use an over the counter eye drop: Naphcon A. I use it on both Tuck and Lulu. Lules has that white face and every now and then the fur around her eyes gets really pink. The Vet said that is a reaction from calcium mixing w/ tears in the eye. She suggested trying the Naphcon w/ her. I tend to use it on both when it gets windy and stuff blows in their eyes.

I've threatened to get Doggles for them but know it would be like throwing $ away. Tuck would never wer them and Lulu would find a way to knock them off.

Weepy eyes could be from an infection or from an allergy or from tear duct problems. If it is an infection, it will usually be more than just a watery substance coming form her eyes - it will usually be more solid and yellowish.
Have the eyes checked out with the vet when you next visit and in the meantime use something that vet clinics and pet shops should sell - they are special eye wipes for dogs. If you don't wipe off the eye discharge, a stain under the eyes can become permanent.

Shippo got a weepy eye at 9 months old as well. When I took him in to be neutered, I had them look at it, and it turned out to be pink-eye! I guess he got it from another dog or person. I had to put goop in his eye for over a week, 2-3 times a day lol...

As usual, more great advice, and I will point out something that Michael wrote, that if it is indeed some sort of infection, then it would probably have a color to it, yellow or red. Just always point out something like that at physical time. I keep a running list between vet visits, with any question, etc, and that helps. I always have something to ask about, vitamins to diet.

That said: I knew what I would find when I clicked on your photo, Miss Gambler's eyes look like that a lot of the time, and the vet has told me numerous times that she is fine, they just water. I had my husband look at your photo and he totally agreed that it's like looking at Miss Gambler's eyes. We even held her face near the computer screen. It depends on the time of year and temp. as to how bad it is. On the drive back and forth to Las Vegas, they get really bad in the desert area. Does your dog go through big environmental or temp. changes during her day? Start a daily log and write down days that it is bad and where you are, temp., etc.. and see if you notice any common deniminators. If your vet has said to relax, then do so, we have, but you can still point it out every vet visit.

Here is the name of a weepy eye (from infection or allergy) cure for humans that is also most suitable for dogs that in NZ one can buy it from a Chemist (Pharmacist): Lomide

Milo gets gunk around his eyes ONLY after waking up from his sleep. We usually use a tissue and softly wipe his eyes. Even humans have gunk on their eyes when they wake up.

It depends on if it hurts your corgi when you touch it. Does the coloration look ok? If you are unsure, get it checked with your Vet.

Buta has weepy eyes too, it started when she was 9 months old too. The vet said she is fine, as the eye doesn't look red or anything. I just do my part in cleaning her eyes every nite to prevent infection (^^)

A large pet shop should sell special wipes for dogs eyes. They are like baby wipes but they contain special ingredients to benefit eyes and help to clear the weepiness.
Your vet is wrong to simply palm away a dog with weepy eyes. There is got to be a cause and there is got to be a remedy.

Michael: I value your opinion, however, Miss Gambler has seen THREE vets for her eyes, and not only that, when I had my last eye exam, I made a comment about her eyes. He shocked me by saying, "Bring her in." Turns out, he is a dog lover, and Miss Gambler had her eyes examined by a true eye doctor. Her eyes are "extremely clean and healthy", his words. Her eyes will just water and streak, like the photo of the Corgi who's owner posted this thread. That said: I am not saying, or telling, her that her Corgi is healthy, she needs to have her mind put to rest by having second, and third and fourth, opinions. Also: To this day, I wish that I had taken my camera to get Miss Gambler's photo in the doctor's chair!

Oh MGM - I bet that was cute!!!! Did she read the chart??

I have had Jackie's eyes checked a few times because of her "eye boogers" (which usually only appear after long sleep), and have been told that her eyes are fine, absolutely no problems. Of course, I still mention it to the vet every time we go . . . so he can look again & make sure . . .
