Wink Ready for Thanksgiving?! - 11-19-2006, 07:11 PM

Hi guys! Just thought I'd see what everyone is doing for Thanksgiving, I know we'll all be including our bunny butts. Ponzo and I stopped off at our local favorite, Daisy's Barkery and Boutique, to get ready for Thanksgiving. I picked up a can of Merrick's Thanksgiving dinner and some pumpkin cookies for his Thanksgiving feast. I don't want him to feel left out while we are all chowing down on the good stuff at my parents house. Now he'll have a special addition to his usual meal and a healthy dessert. The cookies were fresh out of the oven and I hate to admit it but I did have to take a small tid bit off the end to see if it tasted as good as it smelled. It wasn't as sweet as you'd think, she only adds honey to sweeten the baked goods so thats why. But I think he'll enjoy it! Everyone on one side of the family will be there, and Ponzo's everybody's favorite floppy dog. He's always gobbled up by the first person through the door or my father, which ever gets to him first. Should be a busy, but wonderful day we are looking forward to our first Thanksgiving with our little man!

Sounds like Ponzo is going to have a fantastic Thanksgiving meal! We are also excited to spend our first Thanksgiving with Ace. We are heading up to Austin to celebrate with Jim's family so it's a road trip for all of us. Which is good for Ace because he loves to travel. I didn't know Merrick had a Thanksgiving dinner. I'll have to check that out! And the cookies do sound tasty! We are planning a small hiking trip on Friday with Ace to try and burn off some calories from the big dinner!

Thanksgiving = My Favorite Holiday (I must be a corgi in human's clothing)

We are taking Jackie to her grandparents' house (my in-laws) for the holiday, where I will no dobt spend all of my time trying to keep her grandparents and her cousins from spoiling her!!!

Hope you all have a great one! And for those of you who don't live in the US - use this as an excuse to pig out on Thursday.

We are having a mini Thanksgiving here with Leah's dad and then leaving for Georgia the next day (with a stop overnight in NC to pick up Hubby's parents) to have 2nd Thanksgiving Sunday with our other son and daughter-in-law! Going to be great - haven't been to see him since July and am missing my baby boy!

Wow! Busy bodies are we all! That's great, it sounds like everyone is in for a delicious holiday. I know I can't wait for my sweet potatoes and pecan pie!

We are going to have a nice quiet Thanksgiving just me, the hubby, Dillon and the kitties. Then on Saturday we will be going up to my parents house to celebrate with the whole family. I have not yet decided if i want to bring Dillon. He would love to go but i have a feeling that while everyone loves him, that he might be too much with so many people around. I dont want to bring him along just to end up crating him there while we are eating and such- I can't let him completely loose in my parents house as their house has not been child or puppy proofed and that means i will be having to watch him the whole time...I dont plan on being gone for more than a total of 5 hours so he will be fine left at home. I also am not sure if my nutty sister will bring her cat that she drags around with her. She has been DYING to have her cat meet Dillon since he was a puppy and I have managed to avoid the confrontation this long. I say confrontation becuase her cat is completely Psycho and has attacked my others sisters cats when she had the bright idea to bring him to her house to introduce them...sigh there is a glimpse of the craziness in my family LOL..I am more looking forward to our quiet happy home holiday celebration on Thursday rather than the nutty disfunctional family gathering on saturday...All but my mom's increadible turkey and her pumpkin pie...drool drool

Emilie,

I am somewhat laughing at your story and your description of your sister. I for the life on me cannot figure out why someone would want to introduce a cat to a dog in a situation where there is going to be a lot of people at your parents house that is just not a good idea. Since you say the cat is a Psycho, I don't think I would want it around my dog at all. Sounds like your day could be interesting. Cody is coming with us to my parents on Thursday and this will be the first time that he will be around a larger group of people. We are taking his crate or the baby gate with us just in case we need it during dinner time. He will be boarded for Saturday night because we will be going to my in laws on that day and he can't come there.

oh believe me, when Dillon was only about 4 months old she wanted to introduce them , and i couldnt help my reaction, i looked at her like she had two heads and asked her if she had lost her MIND! I said no way - I need all his introductions with other animals, people and new things to be POSITIVE ones, not him getting attacked by her nutty cat just so he can go home and take it out on my docile and friendly cats. Not to mention if he was injured by claws or bite..not a chance i would take with my baby. Her cat is neurotic and nervous and a bit phychotic - like cat like owner...sigh

Dillydoodle

Ha ha that just makes me luagh. I would never do that with my baby. She is already scared of somethings. I don't need to get her nerves in a bunch.

Dewey's coming with me to my uncle's house in Maryland. It will be a small family get together lasting about three days. Since I don't really enjoy my family's get togethers Dewey and I will spend most of our day roaming my Uncle's neighborhood. It's a gated comunity with a lake inside... My uncle... very well off... sheesh. He also has a huge slobbery dog that I have never seen and hopefully Dewey won't ever either.

I am hosting Turkey day at my house this year for our family...what was I thinking......

I am been giving this a lot of thought, there wil be a lot of people here... And my dad is the worst about giving the dogs foods I dont want them to have.

I think I will leave them in their crates and move them to my room upstairs, I think it will be less stressful for them.

Not everyone loves my puppers as much as I do... he he he

Miss Gambler will be going to Las Vegas with my husband and I. We have to be creative on Thanksgiving, because it's tradition for us to enjoy a big casino buffet, so that leaves her out. Luckily, it is Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps, so she'll get a good meal from somewhere. Last year she had a steak all to herself, so she didn't complain at all that Mommy didn't cook.

I am having Thanksgiving at home with my brother and a few friends. My brother arrived Saturday and Lulu just loves him! Tuck loves "Uncle Dave" because he gets lots of treats from him. Lulu just crawls all over my brother. She chews on his beard, licks his face and shirt. She has to sit on his lap at all times.

Now that she's 6 months/terrible teen..... she absolutely refuses to come in the house these days. So I stand at the door now, call her, and say "go get Uncle Dave". That does the trick! She comes running.

I love my brother but like a good friend of mine always says: "Company is like trash, after a few days it starts to smell." So I look forward to the day he goes home but there goes my leverage of getting Lulu back into the house!!!!!!
