The Hair!! - 01-28-2007, 12:51 PM

It's official. Dudley is definitely shedding like I've never seen him do before. I always thought I had just gotten lucky when everyone else talked about the endless supply of hair that seemed to come off their corgi, but now I feel like I could brush and brush and it will never stop! I'm covered in it, by rugs are covered it, my bed is covered in it...it's everywhere!!! And the worse part is, I don't really think that this is the "blowing" that people have mentioned.

Oh the agony

Welcome to the Corgi Fluff Club. I have lived with it for years When Digger was shedding and he went for a ride in the car, you could see it flying around the air. I would pull it out in gobs and the worst part of it was, he hated to be brushed so that was a struggle. That is the first thing I have taught the two chipmunks is to get brushed. Lady is shedding equally bad and my furniture turns white on occasion and I wear my animals to work some days. Chip hasn't blown his coat yet but I still brush him very very often because he enjoys it so much. Believe it or not, when Digger died, I missed his little tuffs around the house.

Welcome to Corgi hair Jeni Isn't it wonderful

I just got new family room furniture( in red fabric) over Christmas(was not thinking sensibly), and I have to brush it nearly every day. Now throw in my 3cats and you can only imagine what I have.

I can't imagine the amount of hair you both have with all of your pets! I guess I will have two times the hair when Maya starts to shed too. Wow!! Luckily, I have leather furniture, so we are able to "dust" off the hair from it, but I still can't get over how visible it is on everything.

I tell people to dress casual when they come to my house because they surely will be taking some home with them. It is very hard to keep it all vacuumed up. Right now Maybelle is the worst because she has collie fur and is shedding really bad. She is going to get a good brushing tonight.

I am like you Jenni, leather furniture, for me it is the best - remember I used to have a total of 4 cats now i only have two cats and one corgi soon to be two corgis..so there is always hair around. I vacuume often ( several times a week, I dust off my furniture which is all leather and i stay pretty well on top of it but I still tell people to come to my house NOT wearing black.

Emilie ~ We were the same way. We had Zip plus 4 indoor cats. We, too, always told people not to wear black to our house. Most of my clothes are light colored because of the hair. I had just started buying more black clothes right before I got Zia. I may be back to square one.

As it is, we already have several lint brushes at home and I have one at school too. I think I'm going to have to invest in one for each of our cars as well because we took Dudley for a ride yesterday and my entire back seat was covered!

Z - I use to try for light colors too with Emma fur everywhere but now with black fur Chloe what to do? I wear light and Chloe hair shows up - I wear dark and Emma hair all over! It's a good thing animal print is IN Fashion

My favorite part of corgi blowing their coats are the tumbleweeds rolling around in the back yard where I brush The Girls. I can hear that old Clint Eastwood cowboy movie theme in my head now...

Dudley has mostly dark fur, but it seems like all the fur we are seeing is white, so I we can't win either!

As for the lint brushes - you know the ones that are tape on a roll? well BJ's had a 6 pack of them cheap, so we bought it, one is in my car, one is in hubby's SUV, he has one at work, i have one by the door at home, and one in the upstairs bathroom. we still have 2 back up ones left!

OMG! What age do they usually start blowing their coats? Delilah hasn't done this yet and I want to make sure I have the right equipment on hand to brush her.

As for animal prints - check out the zebra! LOL

We too have cats (2) and dogs (4) so I am constantly sweeping up hairballs from under the furniture. I can just see it getting worse! Think I'll practice the pinching technique I read about earlier the next time I see Cheryl! She's the one that convinced me my next dog should be a corgi.....

I love Delilah to death! She has become quite the companion. She has decided that if I sit down in the recliner that she is suppose to sleep between my knees - either flat out or upside down! And she loves to skid after the toys. She was playing tug-o-war with me tonight and the 2 chihuahuas got on the other end. Was soo funny to see her tugging them across the hardwood floor.
