I agree with you there Linda, Dillon is eating a lot of salmon and also gets a squirt of wild salmon oil in his food ( for his omegas!) and sometimes he smells a little bit fishy breath...and it sometimes is after a good teeth brushing !

I will be getting some babywipes and will test them out- great for after the outdoors to wipe up!

I agree with the men not smelling things as well, however in the case of the dirty diaper, my guess is he pretended not to smell it , lest he have to do the changing LOL!!!

We use Bio-Groom Oatmeal Soothing Shampoo as it is soap free. Very easy to rinse and leaves Buddy's coat soft, fresh, and very huggable! Also for smells here and there we use Cowboy Magic (it says its a shower in a bottle) it is made of natural oils and can be licked with no problems according to vet. Have used both doggie wipes and alcohol free baby wipes. Now just spritz the Cowboy Magic and wipe with a paper towel. Also for muddy football days with the boys, we give Buddy a 1/2 bath--just a rinse from midline down with the hose on mist . A rub down with a towel and he's dry in minutes versus forever with a regular bath and 30 minute blow dry. In fact using this method, he gets a full bath every 2-3 months or so and 1/2 rinses or wipe downs in between.
Take care....

Emilie - don't feel bad about how much shampoo you have - I am the same way. I don't know if it's because she's a fluffy or what, but I am always looking for new shampoos to try on her & see how they make her look / smell / feel. Maybe I'll get the whitening one next! And I do brush her teeth daily, unless something causes me to skip a day (but never more than a day is skipped, because then I feel guilty). She still has doggie breath - but I have smelled MUCH WORSE in my lifetime. The baby wipes sound like a good idea. I keep a squirt bottle filled with water & Jackie's towel by the door to clean her feet (there is a ridiculous amount of salt & chemicals on our walks / streets here too). So if you don't like the wipes, maybe you could try that?

I WISH I had a man's sense of smell, so I could ignore (or even appreciate) stinky garbage, dirty diapers, BO, etc etc etc . . .

Jessica and Emilie,

I would bet if you had any shampoo left over that you did not use, you could probably use it on your own hair or have your husbands test it out Not sure I would want to try the whitening one though. When my daughter was an infant my husband threw her poop filled diaper in the kitchen garbage under the sink. I came home from doing errands and about fell over; he had no clue as to what I was smelling and I was thankful that we were not expecting company.

ROFL! oh my goodness, why do men do stuff like that linda? IN the name all that's good and holy! Didn't he SMELL it? LOL

Well speaking of new products, I got two today...I had to go to west hartford today and was only a mere few blocks from three dog bakery so I HAD to stop in. Well they have a product line there callled happytails.. I bought "dry dog instant clean" a spray on bath replacement with aloe and kiwi ( did it to try on DIllon's feet. and this stuff smells great!) I also bought "bow wow butter balm" which is quick relief soothing treatment for dry cracked noses and paws- so i figured while mushers secret works to protect the feet before going out, that maybe this could moisturize his toes after when they are dried out and like sandpaper! I will let you know if it works! their products do smell very nice..

I will be able to let you know by march if the toe cream works LOL! they also have another one that is aromatherapy and smells great - very relaxing...i almost bought that too, but thought i might be stripped of the credit card LOL! ( this is my 3rd dog related shopping trip this week and it is only Tuesday! LOL)

Yes, I do when I bathe them for a show, but only on the white areas.

Thought someone might be interested to know that since I started giving Dale vitamins each day, the smell or odor he had around his head and face has gone away. Maybe this is a vitamin deficiency.

breath

Please do mention to your vet at usual visit, if your dog has bad breath. Our dog was diagnosed of kidney failure by the breath. Of course we had the blood work to confirm. But never again will I say bad breath is normal.

When wet - rain - my dog smelled like a wet sheep! I should have squirted shampoo on then when we had easy rinse.
