Ok, well, I've never had to use one so wasn't sure. Was just passing on what I'd been told. Maybe the person who mentioned it had a shorter corgi.

And while they may keep them clean, they are not waterproof; plus they will cover their private parts making it difficult to pee and poop along the way; I guess you could just roll them up.

I thought about the pottying problem after I sent that post. Yeah, that could be a problem.

Some dog sweaters cover the chest area but not the privates, that might work too. Also not waterproof, but will keep the corgi from getting as dirty and they would be washable. Might need more than one so the dog could wear one while one was being washed.

Although many corgis don't like sweaters, some of mine refuse to wear one.

A 2T might work for some(on the smaller side) and different brands vary in sizes as far as length.

I have a sweater for Cody and he is pretty good about wearing it, but he seems to want to go much faster for our walks when it is on - maybe he is just hoping to get home so he can take it off.

Now that could be. I have tried to use them on older dogs when I've put them outside. Flame (now at the rainbow bridge) would take hers off and leave it in the middle of the yard. Lacy took off the one I put on her too. So gave up and just put her out for shorter times. (It can get very cold up here!)

i love the idea of a windbreaker material custom made for a corgi...compensating for the doodle of course. Tgal, if you make it...and it works, let me know...you would also have to have little sleeves on it, my dogs get muddy armpits! Either that or we should make one of those hampster balls for our dogs, they would never get dirty then LOL! the bubble dog LOL! ok, no more coffee for me today

I bought Boots a little doggie rain coat last night and it velcros down most of his belly. His undercarraige stayed dry but I had to wipe his footy paws. Fisher is more dainty and doesnt get wet that much so I didnt get him one. He did not seem jealous. I think he was laughing at boots and his little rain slicker. It even has reflective stickers on it so you can see him running around the yard at night!

Wow, lots of good ideas here - thanks! I picked up a few doggy clothes (all too small) and some toddler t's over the weekend to try. The toddler t's would have been nice but they were to tight across the back and too bunchy over the belly/chest. I think a longer doggy t-shirt (like the football one posted) made for dogs with the forward arm holes could work.

It really doesn't need to be waterproof, as it's the road grit that's the main problem. There is so much construction on our street that it's almost a dirt road at this point. I can try to wipe her down but it's stuck in all that lovely white fur and it comes back out slowly later, all over everything.

I'm almost thinking a tube-top type of thing would be very easy to use, just a piece of lightweight fabric with elastic over each end. It would be super easy to make, and since my dog hates putting her arms into t-shirts it would be nice for her, too.
