Kong Zoom Groom - 5 Stars! - 03-16-2007, 09:55 AM

After trying my horse rubber curry on my dog I decided to get one of the Kong Rubber curries I kept seeing at Pet Smart.

Kong Zoom Groom

I used it for the first time last night and it did a fantastic job. Pulled out lots of loose hair, worked the soap in, massaged my doggie really nice too. The hair was easy to pull back out of the curry when you're finished with your grooming.

I recommend this to all corgi owners. It definately made bathtime easier and less hair is being shed afterwards.

Yeah I have one of those and it works pretty well. I also use the Furminator. It has so fine a tooth that I used it yesterday to get some flea eggs off the coat.

I'd better add that to my PetSmart list!

PetSmart - FURminator® deShedding Tool
I saw that and then debated spending $7 or $50..... I didn't understand how a shedding comb could be $50. So I got the Kong one. Is it really worth $50?

I just got a Furminator and LOVE IT!!!! I had a Shed ender comb, I liked that also, but my dogs were too wiggley for that. I got a small one off of Ebay for about $25 dollar total. I figure if the dogs don't like it, I can still use it on my cats.

The first time I used the Furminator, I couldn't believe how much came out in one swipe. There was a section in my backyard that was covered with the fur from both of my dogs.

How do you get the hair off if you aren't giving a bath? In other words is this strictly for the bath?

First of all, a shedding Comb? I have a shed blade which was about $5 and I have a teflon coated "greyhound comb" which looks similar to Welcome to PetEdge - Professional Pet Products & Pet Supplies at Wholesale Prices
with one course end and one medium end...and i dont think i spent more than $12 on it, so $50 sounds a bit over priced to me...

I don't think so but thats how I used it the first time. Curry combs work by pulling out loose hair from horses, this is the same type of mechanism but used for dogs. The "teeth" are longer to get into the thick undercoat of the dog. It really collects the hair up brilliantly so it isn't flying everywhere. I have that problem with a regular shedding blade, the hair just goes all over my floor or patio.

I used it in the bath first since she needed one and it would really help to scrub the soap in. The fact that it pulled all the loose hair out was a big bonus

that Kong thing is what I use on The Girls! it is wonderful for the guard hair - very easy to remove the hair off the comb... haven't tried it in the bath yet but good idea.

I recently bought a shed blade for all the underneath hair and am very pleased with it - what is different/better about the Furminater?
