Well, it depends. If it's spring and the dog is close to a year, meaing a few months or so away they might blow their coats then.
Blowing coat is when you get the tufts, the coat comes out in handfuls. Now if you brush your dog every few days or even every week you might never get the tufting/blowing coat stage.
