I am really scared to cut Duchess's nails because she is so sensitive. If I hurt her she would be that much harder for the next time to handle. My brother said he has no trouble cutting his dog's nails because of the "thing" on the cutter that keeps the nail from sliding too far into the blade.
There is nothing like that on my cutters so I shopped around and found some. I don't want to spend more than I have to but didn't know if one pair was better than another. Is this a new tool or has it been around a while?
What is your experience?
WAlmart has some for around $8 and a pet store had some a little different for $17.

I thought I might resurrect this post and say this seems to be a good deal. I have only one type but it has a "stop" so you can't go any further. This one does as well. Read the Product Features at the bottom. It indicates it has a guard for that purpose.

The last time I clipped duchess nails I didn't have the ones with the stop I was just going to clipped off the ends, but I cut to her quick. I don't want to ever do them again. There is a pet store near me where one Saturday a month they do the nails. I think I will go there instead.
