When we go camping they are in the lake, rolling in the sand, laying in charcoal, etc so a bath is definitely needed. When I gave Chip his bath, I found a little worm type thing in the tub that totally freaked me out. Have no idea what it was but I didn't like it on my corgi so soon as we hit the door, baths for all three of them is the rule. Just can't be too safe. Chip doesn't mind the hair dryer now Dale is a different story. He doesn't like the rubbing from the towel or the hair dryer so his bathtime is a little different from Chip's. It amazes me how different all three of mine are. Taffy she loves her bath and will wash her feet in the waterbowl in the kitchen. if they get muddy.

The Buddy Wash and Rinse smells really great. I mail ordered some last year. One bottle is probably a lifetime supply for us.
I don't use a rinse/conditioner, should I? Probably it's something that would help add mositure to his skin, especially if drying with a blow dryer and I should probably get some.

Yup, that's the Pipster!

It's really not needed. And it will make the coat softer than it should be. Corgis are supposed to have harsh coats remember. That helps keep them water resistant. And my show dogs are bathed and blow dried pretty reguaraly during the time they're being shown.

I'd agree you probably don't *need* the rinse. I remember having a really difficult time getting all the shampoo rinsed out after multiple repeated rinses, and the Buddy Rinse/Conditioner did seem to break down the last of the shampoo so I wasn't leaving any shampoo residue on his skin/coat. Next time Charlie gets a bath, I'll probably dilute the shampoo in a quart of water so maybe he won't be so hard to rinse.

It may be the hard water in my city...so I might have to use rinse to get the suds out regardless. ...just an afterthought....

Diluting the shampoo might be a good idea. Most of the ones I use are concentrated so I have to dilute them anyway.

Oh, I know how that is!!!! We have very hard water here too.

I have a hand held shower in my tup that is just wonderful for dogs. For those of you who have those try that on the dog. If you don't have one consider one.

And another idea, the Booster Bath is great and on my "wanted list". Dog Bath – Elevates, Contains, Drains – Home of the Booster Bath dog bathing system - BoosterBath.com Check around and on line, prices vary. I've used these at dog shows (sometimes provided for bathing dogs) and they are very nice.

If I didn't have the hand-held shower massage on a cord, Charlie would still be walking around with shampoo on him from his last bath in March. I agree, I couldn't thoroughly rinse him at all without the handheld!

That booster bath looks really cool, too...but quite a luxury item for someone like me who has only 2 dogs that don't get baths very often. (The Cairn Terrier experts suggest "Never, ever bath your Cairn if you can help it"...very bad for their skin and coat apparently.) Almost be worth the expense and storage hassles to save my poor aching back though.

I would love a handheld nozzle in my tub. Mine is in the shower and that is where my three get their baths. I pick them up and spray their tummies and we all end up with a bath by the time I am done but it sure does rinse the shampoo away.

LOL! Yeah I can see that!! Would be the same with my guys. I don't know how people do it without handheld showers when bathing dogs!

The regular one is almost half the price of the Groomer's model. And yeah, kinda pricey but for me who does have several dogs to bathe and lots of baths during the show season, it would be sooooo nice!

They told us that when my husband had a Scottie too. It just makes the coat softer and they're supposed to have very hard coats. So for a pet dog, it wouldn't be so bad if you want to bath them more than they recommend.

I agree there. Having been able to try them, yes, it's much eaiser on the back!

Well, maybe one for the tub is needed too? It sure is handy!

And yeah, we all get wet anyway. They tend to want to shake even when told not too. Some of mine just don't listen!

Peggy, I am impressed that some of yours do listen. I would say you are doing well. Mine have selective hearing

Well the ones that do are the older guys. Lacy at 13 and Morgan at 8 years old. Lots of baths over the years. The younger ones still haven't caught on yet!!

I will continue to skip the conditioner then. I have to say, Pip's coat does feel really, really soft until probably a little over a month after a bath.

I remember reading advise once to rinse until you feel like a fool and then 5 minutes more! I probably spend 10-15 minutes on the rinse cycle.

I have one, too, aren't they great?!? Even though I bought it many years ago, specifically for bathing the dog, mine is a multi head massager, so I get some use from it too!
