I have to say I LOVE my Dyson vacuum as well. With two dogs in the house, both of which shed a lot I use it daily on top of grooming. I wasn't quite so vigilant until my son started playing on the floor.. but it is SO nice having a vacuum that will actually pull the hair out of the carpet! I think if I had to I would pay double for a Dyson.
Also... diet most absolutely plays a big part in how much a dog sheds. I used to just feed regular grocery store foods to my dogs. When I switched to a better brand that I had done research on it made a huge difference in their shedding. It was especially noticable in Cheyenne... she went from constantly having "tufts" to only getting them on occasion. Now, don't get me wrong... a shedding dog will always shed, there is no way to stop it, but a really good diet, in my experience, can cut down on the amount of hair that is shed. |

I have a rainbow vacume and love the job it does... amazing how much blond hair I pick up but very little black... Chloe is getting thicker on her pantaloons and neck but back hair doesnt have it's undercoat yet. Is this usual for black tri or could my perfect little puppy girl have a tiny little flaw? if so less hair is good for me!

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I did not think Sassy was a fluffy but was not sure. The food is definitely a contributing factor but I feed Sassy Science Diet which I had heard was a good food and she does get the occasional human food but not on a regular basis. Although she absolutely loves her veggie treats and the occasional boiled egg. LOVES boiled eggs.

With all of the positive reviews of the Dyson animal vacuum we starting looking into getting one. We went to Target yesterday and looked at the Dyson, but we also found a Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Pet Vac for about $179. Has anybody had any experience with one of these? We would love to get a Dyson, but the $500 price tag is a little hard to swallow.

I know the $500 is a lot.
I absolutely love my Dyson, and I figured with 3 cats and a dog and all that hair, it was something that was going to be put to very good use. I had a Hoover, and whenever I vacuumed with that, I thought that I was picking up pet hair from the carpet, because the Vacuum bags did have hair with them...then I got the Dyson and I could not believe what came out of the carpet. After purchasing it, just for testing it's power, we vacuumed our carpeted areas and then right after, went over it with the "Dyson Animal" - it was truely amazing what had still been left in the carpet after the Hoover sweep. I ran into someone not long ago while walking Cody and she has a friend who cleans homes for a living and she was telling me that "She desperately wants a Dyson" because her "cleaning friend" was telling her how wonderful they are. Just my plug; I know they are not cheap, but worth it for me. Last edited by corgimom; 08-21-2006 at 12:06 PM. |

Cheryl thanks for the link to Chicken Soup for the pet lover soul but unfortunately it is not available in Florida. There are no retailers here. I am going to speak to my vet to see if he can inquire into carrying it but I doubt he will as the only food he has is the Science Diet variety. I read the ingredients of the Chicken Soup and I would love to get some to see if Sassy would like it. I wish I could order it on the internet even. Will keep trying. Thanks for the information.

If you click on this link you will get to their site and then at the side, click on retailers. You will get a Us map and click on Florida and it lists a bunch of places where you can purchase it. I am not sure where you are located, but many places were listed. I think these places sell on line also. Hope this is what you were looking for

*~* I like this NEW picture (to the left) of Cody. He looks like he is thinking, "I wonder if Mom KNOWS what I just did" ? Curious Cody... ** I think that Midnight & Sunshine would really like to play with him ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like the ingredients in Chicken Soup. I am still feeding my girls Nutro Ultra...at the moment, though. *~* Nikki

Nikki,
this picture was taken "before the deed", the cat was sitting on top of the chair and Cody slowly got up and stole his mouse...on this picture...he is pondering if he should do that I asked him"what are you doing up there" - I caught him in the act

Linda:
You are a very thoughtful poster - that was so nice of you to look up the link, etc. What size is the kibble for the adult dog food. Chip has to have small pieces like a "little bite" The ingredient list sounds real good. I had never heard of it before.

Bonnie,
Thank you for your thoughts. Did you click on "formulas" at the side? You will get to the various ones and then click on the one you are interested in to read more about it. I did not see where they listed the size of the kibble, but you can go to "contact us" and fill out the form and ask them the question. Hopefully they can answer that for you. This food is quite popular around here, I see it in many of the pet stores. |

I would say the kibble size is pretty average. Not small, but not huge either (unless you accidentally grab the large breed variety like I just did last week hehe... oops). Most dealers will also have a 5lb pack available that you can try it out without having to buy the full size bags. Although, keep in mind it will take your corgi a week to a month typically to adjust to a new food. Mine made the switch to this stuff pretty easy but some dogs don't react well to food changes.. even when the previous food wasn't good.
