Demodectic Mange is typically present on all dogs especailly puppies but generally does not cause any problems. If your dog has a high stress level or has a immune system defficiancy it can allow the mites to grow more rapildy causing outbreaks. It will usually pop up either on the head near the eyes or on the front legs of a thining patch of hair with red iritated skin. This is common in puppies and they will often outgrow it.

My Corgi Koda had a small patch on his head but it slowly went away with time. Demodectic Mange can become worse though with patches spreading over a wider area and becoming a big problem.

Scarpotic Mange other wise known as scabies is caused by a mite that your dog would catch from another dog or possibly a human because they do affect both. Scarpotic mange has the same symptons as Demodectic but is usually a bit more severe with a lot if itching and oozing sores.

Demodectic Mange or red mange is passed from the bitch to her puppies but it has been proven that if puppies are hand raised by humans once their born, they will not get the mange mites from their mummy.
A thick black crust will form on areas that are infected & will slowly turn into a lesion & have difficulties healing. The dog shld wear a e-collar during this periods.

Make sure you ask your vet about Frontline Plus, when used monthly, this is something that it can control.
