Bad Rug! - 11-14-2006, 09:35 AM

I went shoppiing at Pier 1 Saturday (LOVE that store) and purchased a rug for my living room. From minute one, Miss Gambler did not like it, it disrupted her frapping run, her wide circle that she makes in the house when she gets wound up, it would slow her down. I have mentioned before that she is crate trained, but she sleeps in our bed, with her own pillow, and it's pretty difficult for her to move and get off the bed without my husband or I noticing, this morning, when I got up with her she was soooo excited to lead me out of the room and I knew something was up. When we got to the living room, she immediately went to the rug and sat on it, or rather, what was left of it, she had obviously spent the night tearing it up. Here is my $150 brand new rug pushed up against the cabinet, and she's giving me this look, "See Mommy, we don't need it." For the record, there was no punishment involved, I ended up on the floor laughing with her. She was so proud, and yes, she has already made her frapping run this morning, minus that mean bad rug. Thought I would share.

Ohhhhhhhh, my condolences on your new rug. And I feeel your pain.

I left Tucker home ungated one day and he rolled his Kong (with cheese in it) under the love seat and the love seat refused to give it back. Clearly Tucker's only recourse was to savagly attack the love seat. And he really did a number on it!

He hauled the sucker a good foot (and it was heavy!) across the rug bunching the rug up as he went.

When I got home all I could do was hug him and tell him calmly that he was grounded for life.

You should have gotten her picture - I would have loved to see that one.

MissGamblersMommy,

That must have been a lovely thing to wake up to Can you take the rug back and say it "disintegrated" for some reason and you don't know why I would think MissGambler would be exhausted today from all the energy she used last night.

Miss Gambler is sleeping, and probably will sleep a lot of the day away I suspect, but she has been up once, she came into the living room, circled, then went back to bed. I know that she was checking to see if the rug was back. The sofa story was so funny, and all for a kong(how are they, by the way, never tried one with Miss Gambler?). As for photos, I had the camera in her face all day yesterday, at least it felt like it, she wore her big pink Princess tiara for the longest time yesterday, she did not want to take it off, she even fell asleep with it, I was thinking about uploading one.

I would love to see Miss Gambler in her tiara! Too bad you didn't get a shot of her with her "kill", though. That is a very funny story . . . since it's not MY rug.

LOL oh my gosh Miss Gambler told you! yikes! The best is that she snuck off to take care of the offending rug... fluffypants makes a good point, only funny becuase it is NOT my rug- Kongs are pretty fun when they are stuffed with yummy goodness! Also Busy budy makes a great rubber toy called Waggle- Dillon LOVES it and it keeps him busy until every last piece has come out. Best to use dry dog food as the treat inside this one than what they sell because the treat they sell for it is really not the best ingredient wise (my niecest way of saying it is junk food) Here is a link that shows the waggle bone: www.busybuddytoys.com/category.cfm?Category=1

Huw has a Busy Buddy football that I fill with peanut butter when we are getting ready to leave for the day. He loves it!!! I need to start putting cookies in there to see if that will take him longer. He's such the food whore...such is a corgi!

Two mistakes you made:
Didn't consult with Miss Gambler first nor have her look over the carpet rug at the store prior to purchase.
Don't live in New Zealand where you could have got a full refund through no-excess insurance.

Here is the kind of punishment that you and Miss Gambler deserve:
Take any two 'good' pieces of the carpet remaining and frame one piece as a picture and place it on the wall of the room in which the rug was damaged - this will be a reminder of your folly and also a mememto of what could have been; use the other piece as the basis for Miss Gambler's own bed - re the motto "you make your own bed and now you lie on it."
