Barbara:
I am so sorry to hear about Montrose. I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better. I know you must be very worried. My daughter has a chow who is about 12 years old and she periodically has seizures. Not sure of the cause but it is scary at the time. My daughter just sits with her and then when the seizure is over, her dog seems to be ok. Please keep us posted. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Bonnie

Dear Barbara,
I am sending a very warm Corgi hug to you and your husband AND for Montrose...I hope that this seizure was a one-time event - and that you are able to get some answers from your vet soon so that (you and) your sweet Monty will not have to endure such a scary episode again... (heart...heart) |

I hope Montrose gets better and doesn't have anymore seizures. The corgi/chow mix I have had one last year for about 5 minutes. They weren't severe, but still scary. I thought it was because of her rabies shot she had gotten earlier in the week, but the vet said it shouldn't have been. If she was going to have problems, they would have shown up sooner than that.
Well, magical fairy kisses to Montrose, to make the seizures stay away from their mighty steed!!!! |

Barbara,
I ,too, am so sorry to hear about the seizures Monty had. That sounds incredibly scary for everyone involved. Glad to hear you were impressed with the new vet - being available at any hour. That is great. I do hope that Monty will not have to go through another seizure. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated. |

Checker and I also are sending our thoughts and prayers your way for all of you. I hope this was a one time event and that everything is okay. My heart just sank for you when I saw the title. I have had two other dogs before that had problems with seizures and they are very very scary. Best wishes...

What a traumatic experience for you and Gary.
I'll have to ask a vet or two what suddenly sparks seizures. It is Sunday here so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. It is a practice in NZ that vets don't charge for telephone conversations or diagnosis or advice by telephone. Hope all is well in the meantime. |

Oh Barbara, hugs to you, Gary and Monty. I now have two dogs with which I am pretty close, a corgi and a St. Bernard with epilepsy. As for triggers and/or causes, as I understand it there can be a long list of whys - genetics, head injury, environmental such as pesticides, vaccination reactions, etc., etc., and on. In the corgi's case, there is a family genetic link as his brother has seizures as well. Interestingly enough they would have them within 24 hours of each other even though they live long distance apart. The Saint, not so sure, but there is some speculation about a family link there as well.
Hopefully it will be just an isolated incident and the corgis here along with me will remember her and you in our nowIlaymedowns. I double checked and I saw you also asked about this in a couple of good spots where you can get some experienced advice. Already put in a request for you. ![]() Debbie |

Goodness! So sorry to hear about little Montrose...I hope that doesn't happen again, for the sake of all of you. Wishing you the best for your girl...

Barbara,
Hugs and corgi kisses to you and Monty. I, too, hope that this was a one-time event. When our old Siberian Husky was about ten, he started having periodic seizures. Eventually (in his case) a tumor was found, but I never heard that the two events were linked to one another. Sounds like your vet is on top of things. I am wishing your entire family good health and cheer for the holidays. -Debi |
