Doggles: Has anyone successfully got their dog to wear them?
Tucker is having eye gook again, I think it is because they have salted the roads and now when we walk, it blows in his eyes.
He's had the problem before, and a thorough exam from the Vet. But besides putting drops in his eyes, I really think the next option is for doggles. I hate to invest in them because I suspect he will put up a fight. Anyone have any success? Susan

Susan:
I bought a pair for Chip for the boat. I have only put them on him a couple of times and he doesn't like them but I think it is because the lower strap is tight. I am going to remove that strap and only put them on him periodically for a few minutes until he gets used to them and feed him treats while he has them on and play with him. Good Luck

You would think there is an eye lotion/eye wash for dogs much as there is for humans. The lotion cleans and soothes the eyes and gets rid of any grit and clears the eyes for a return to full vision. Perhaps the human eye lotion/eye wash can be used on dogs too?

I tried Doggles on one with dry eye and she didn't take to them at all. One key is to make sure you fit him correctly. With my girl, there was a fear she would scratch her cornea messing with the Doggles. Now a foster I had with dry eye, he wears his without a hitch or complaint at all - looks rather debonair too. Before investing Doggles, you might want to do a trial run with a pair of inexpensive children's sunglasses. Get a small pair and you can do elastic straps around the ear pieces to fit around the head to keep them on. Debbie |

Thanks gang!
Last night I broke out the over the counter human eye drops my Vet suggested (Naphcon A or something like that....). I also have the drops the Vet prescribed. Right now it's not bad but I don't want it to go into an infection. I saw the eye wash on the Fosters and Smith web site (just ordered K9Advantix supply). I may order some and give it a try. If we ever get snow, I suspect the salt won't be blowing in his eyes. Maybe our friends in Denver should send us some snow! Both dogs got used to my brother being with us for the past week and now that he has gone home they are very needy. Tucker looks up at me with his goopy eye and it just breaks my heart.

Poor Tuck - we will have to call him Blinky for the rest of the Winter.
![]() Maybe Bailey's Driver could give you some doggle tips - looks like Bailey wears 'em!

I have Doggles for Sam and he doesn't mind them! He has a solid white head with not alot of pigment around his eyes so when we go hiking or for long walks in the summer he is prone to sunburn. After a particularily bad incident last summer I broke down and bought some. He didn't like them at first but has quickly grown used to them. I will see if I have any pictures kicking around.

Yes, his goopy eye is quite attractive first thing in the morning. But then again, what he must see thru his eyes could be pretty scary....

Well! I ordered up a pair of Doggles for Tucker. We went for a walk in the dark around 7 and on the way back in, we grabbed the mail. The Doggles came today.
So I read the fitting directions and put them on Tucker. Lo and behold, he didn't fight them, actually ran around chasing his ball. Lulu of course looked at me as if to say "where's mine"? So some day I'll actually give them aq shot when we go for a walk in daylight!
