I don't think it is advisable to have a Corgi pup do most of their walking and running on a very slippery floor - it is a bit like a pup under six months constantly going up and down whole sets of steps. However there could be genetic things wrong with your pup or Pico may have bone deficiencies ( not sufficiently strong enough). I had a female Pem pup for a little while and gave her up when her sideways walk never improved to match that of a normal Corgi who can walk and gait in a straight line. I hope for the vet to discover a remedy for Pico. Maybe she needs to get out on roads or pavements under a leash and given lots of room to move around in a grassy park on a retractable long leash. Is Pico on a good puppy food schedule which includes the maximum allowable calcium and other puppy necessities.

Just to reinforce what I and Chip's Dad have said: Urgently take your Corgi for lots of short walks (short, because he is only four months old) - at least eight a day. Cover up any slippery surfaces inside your house where he walks/runs. If you don't do this, permanent damage could be the result and we don't want this to happen.

I second Peggy's recommendation of not breeding any dog with a hip problem. For the symptoms to be showing up so severely in a puppy this young - not a good thing and I concur that it is probably genetic. IF you breed her she will only pass this problem on to her puppies. Their owners will be facing the same worries and concerns you are dealing with in Pico.

How very sad for you and Pico. I can only hope that she has a temporary problem that will clear up after medication and time and in the strengthening of her bones etc
