Seems I never have a pumpkin handy when I need one!

No Mike, Sarah is not wrong, you are. If the package of dog food says "Chicken by-product meal" they are under no obligation to only add in "bone meal". They are free to add in whatever left-overs they have that are approved by the AAFCO definition of a "by-product". If it doesn't say "bone meal" on the package, then you can be damned sure that's not what it is. If it were, it would simply say so.

IT NOWHERE SAYS POWDERED CHICKEN BONES. Only "chicken by-product meal".

That is all irrelevant anyway since the food she is currently feeding is a much higher quality food than Hill's that does NOT include any kind of animal by-product. Most low quality foods are the ones that say animal or chicken by-product in the ingredients list. That is just one more reason why I will never feed my dog Hill's Science Diet; It's a low quality food.

There is a reason you won't find any animal by-products listed in the ingredients of true premium quality foods. It is a cheep ingredient that many people don't know to avoid.

Alana - You are going off-track in a big way. AAFCO is not an agency for approving or disproving by-products that are part of a dog food product. It is an agency which approves or rejects overall dog food products on the basis of the minimum or maximum amounts of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that combined allow for a complete, safe and balanced diet for a dog.

You are incorrect again in assumng what Hills mean through their labellling of the term by-products or chicken by-products or whatever. They (Hills) explained to me what is in one of their food products ( grounded chicken bone meal) and the value of it. Other Hills products contain other by-product meal and if they say they are quality food, tasty and a good source of protein, I'm prepared to accept this until proven otherwise.

Michael, you must be the most gullible person on the planet if you believe that they say "chicken by-product meal" ON THE PACKAGE but really its something else. That's just stupid. If it was chicken bone meal they would say chicken bone meal.

Any animal by-product is a cheep ingredient that should be avoided no matter.

No, I am not wrong! That is the definition by the AAFCO is it not?

Did I say that the AAFCO said that there was anything wrong with by-products?
(I think there is)

Beside what makes you such an expert Michael if you don’t mind me asking?

You are one of those think you know it all people. You have no respect for other people or their opinion and that just makes me sick. You try to insult people all the time because their thoughts and opinions differ from yours. You still have yet to prove any of your statements.

Also, your comment about until you are proven other wise, I literally laughed out loud when I read that. If Hills told you that the sky was LIME GREEN you would believe them.

Last but not least. Do you care to share where you got your information about Hills? I have looked on their site and cannot find the information that you speak of.

Just tell me why would they say a product is something and in actuality be something different.

FYI there is a difference between an educated opinion and an opinion and yours is just an opinion unless you care to share your sources.

Sarah
