Hi, I'm curious, did you ever get an answer to the eating of rabbit droppings? We too have lots of rabbits come in and out of the yard and the dog thinks bunny droppings and petrified worms on the sidewalks are treats. Did the vet ever give you any feedback on it? When the dog goes in the yard to go potty (and I'm not beside her) there's nothing I can do about it. Please let me know.

Shelly,
I will let you know on Monday - I will see my vet in the afternoon. Check back here on Monday and I will have an answer for you. Cody also thinks rabbit poop is a treat and we do have it all over - so not much I can do about it Linda |

Bunny droppings and other "natural" treats
Nikki, If Reba doesn't have scraped teeth from trying to get the petrified worms off the sidewalk it's a real wonder. She's in heaven after a good rain when they are everywhere for the taking. Not even green beans or mini carrots can compete with petrified worms and bunny droppings. ~Shelly

I will be interested in the Vet comments about this subject. Maxi is also a connoisseur of rabbit droppings, he will eat and roll in them. We just try to keep him away from the are where the droppings are in the yard.

Just back from the vet - he said "yes", dogs can get round worms and hook
worms from rabbit poop. He said that Heartguard does help somewhat with eliminating worms, but not entirely and recommends if a dog is eating rabbit poop(very common) to deworm the dog 3 to 4 times a year. He usually gives Nemex when they are young puppies,(which is liquid), but as they get bigger, he usually gives a powder form that can be mixed into their food once a day for 3 consecutive days - and do this 3 to 4 times a year.
