Bladder Infection??? - 09-29-2007, 06:02 PM

I took Sophie to the Vet on friday and found out she had a bladder infection. The problem is I have no clue how she got it. I'd like to know so I can keep this from ever happening again. They said she may have gone into heat, but she didn't bleed at all. Wouldn't I have notice some signs. I am taking her to get spayed in November. First I have to set up an appointment. Its on the 19th. Does anyone know how it could have happened.

Only god can judge me.

Bladder infection - common cause of urinary incontinence in young adult female dogs.

antibiotics is the treatment - one to three weeks.

Sympton can be excessive drinking of water.

Causes: diet including dry food contaminated with bacteria, improper food storage, feeding practices, Ecoli bacteria (found in raw meat, milk exposed to a period unrefrigerated etc).
