Arthritis hits Corgis
One in five dogs - perhaps higher for Corgis - suffer from arthritis.
Certain factors increase dogs susceptibility to this painful disease. These include: 1. Genetic predisposition: does not specifically relate to Corgis. 2. Obesity: this is a Corgi problem. 3. Joint abnormalities: hip dysplasia etc 4. Joint stress and trauma: includes injuries that damage ligaments, tissues or bones. High activity and working dogs (farms etc) in demanding repeated stress on their joints. 5. Infections: bacterial, viral and fungal infections on joints; Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Remedies include dermaxx and a host of natural products. |

Arthritis is inflammation or swelling in a joint.
Apart from slip-free flooring, climbing aids and a soft bed, a Corgi that has arthritis can be assisited with a more sedate existance - less exciteability, less rambunctious play etc - to help reduce joint pain and inflammation. Also extra time allowed in walking, climbing etc. Don't rush a Corgi with arthritis. |
