Chloe is home - 07-26-2006, 03:52 PM

Chloe is home from the Vet. She had pain meds after surgery and her microchip (Em goes for her's tomarrow). She is still not really groggy but not fully awake...

I put water in her crate and am letting her rest / sleep for now. Seven days she gets her stitches out. Glad Leah won't be here for a few days so Chloe can rest - when they are together .....

And Leah is not going to be happy - she wanted Chloe to have puppies. It's hard for her to understand just because she thinks Chloe is perfect and would be a good little mommy it may not be the best thing for the breed in general.

Should I give Chloe any baby asprin or something for pain in a bit or will she be ok?

T-Gal

Did the vet not send you home with any pain med? They sent Cody home with pain med for 3 days worth. Not being a vet, I would never advise anyone to give baby aspirin although I know it is okay for dogs, but not sure if that is something you should give after having surgery, versus, some other type of pain. Does you vet have an after hours answering service where someone can be located to call you back on that?

Glad she came through fine

I am so glad to hear that Chloe is doing ok. They gave Chip pain meds for that night and also the next morning but he didn't need the morning one. Good luck and keep us posted.

The shot they gave Chloe b4 she came home is supposed to last thru the night - she seems sleepy but no pain. She went out with Emma to potty and has drank - not intererested in food, even the little bit of ham I tried to get her to eat. Emma has been sweet to Chloe giving her moral support I guess.

The crate didn't last long - she is more comfy on the sofa with me. Good thing Hubby is working the night shift tonight 'cause we know where she will be sleeping LOL

Cody needed extra comfort his first night home - he was just plain not comfortable so I slept with him in the family room - after that, he was okay to be back in his crate.

Chloe slept with me last night - other that going potty at 4:30am she slept all night. She has wiggled her nub a few times this morning but not her usually whole butt production. Her eyes show a little pain. She ate breakfast and after a little walk in the yard is taking a nap with Emma.

I am taking Em to the vet this morning - she seems to be limping on her right foreleg and it's time for her rabies and her microchip... Will ask the Vet about pain pill for Chloe.

I hope Chloe feels better soon. Definitely ask about the pain pill. My vet gave Jackie a few days worth also. Must be hard on you to see pain in her eyes. Keep us posted!

I'm surprised Cody was in so much pain. When Jesse got neutred a few weeks back he was jumping the stairs the day after although I tried to keep him still.

No, Cody was not in a lot of pain, just the first day - you know how animals are their first day recovering from surgery. I remember giving him his pain med for the second day, but I don't think I gave him the remaining pills after that - he was pretty chipper by then.

Chloe is fine now - walking a little gingerly but no pain in her eyes. Emma on the other hand has a hard journey ahead - I posted a new thread explaining everything except don't think I went into enough details on how stupid her mommy is..........
