Hello, my name is Janice Horvath.
My husband and I have recently adopted a female Corgi pup whom we have named Molly. At fifteen weeks of age, she is a marvelous little bundle of energy. Our beloved Rocky, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, died June 26, 2006. He was nearly 13 years old, but his loss was a major shock. Our new puppy gives us new focus and we knowingly spoil her with our time, attention and affection.
I'm happy to have found this forum. After 13 years, raising a puppy is a challenging undertaking. Hopefully, we can learn from others who have more recent experience. |

Welcome Janice,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but glad to know you will be giving a new Corgi a good life. I'm sure all the puppy stuff will come back, but we are all here to help. I lost my little girl this July, she was only five. I had to get another dog not too long after as Rupert, my male was very depressed having lost his companion. She was 7 months when I got her, so haven't had to go through a lot of the difficult puppy stuff. Yes, everyone will want photos as soon as you can!

Welcome Janice!
After our beloved Corgi-mix, Wimsey, died at age 14, I swore "NO MORE DOGS - EVER!!" It was so painful to lose him, even tho we knew the time had come...At the end of his life Wimsey was frail, deaf and nearly blind... Nevertheless, a year and a half later little ChloeLouise came into our lives - a FLUFFY handful of hope and expectation!! During those last years Wimsey was with us, we had forgotten what a PUPPY was all about!! Chloe quickly re-educated us, however!! At 18 months she is full of energy, mischief and personality, and is such a sweetheart! Occassionally on walks around the yard, Chloe and I will stop at Wimsey's grave and I will tell ChloeLouise how much fun she and Wims would have had together in his younger days. I think he must look down from the Rainbow Bridge and see what a rascal she is and approve. Now I am so very glad that I did not hold to my earlier oath - in retrospect, the only thing I might I have done differently, was look for a Corgi puppy sooner - but then I wouldn't have my precious ChloeLouise, would I?? Funny how things work out the way they were supposed to.... Glad you now have your little Molly to fill the void that your Rocky left... Last edited by ChloeLouise; 11-21-2006 at 12:20 PM. |

Janice,
My name is Linda and I am so sorry to hear of your loss with Rocky. I lost my previous Corgi last December and I had her for 11 1/2 years. She was around 2 when I adopted her from a Humane Society. I now have a Pem boy named Cody who we got when he was 3 months old the end of last January. He just turned 1 - and I survived the puppy months with potty training during the winter - it has been a long time since I had a puppy also. I wish you many happy years with Molly. So glad you found this place and would love to see pictures. |

Welcome to the board. I have a 14 week old (today) Pembroke. Her name is Zia. I understand about raising a puppy again after many years. Our other dog, Zip, a cocker, will be 8 next month. We have been working very hard, with a lot of patience, at training Zia. She is crated during the day. This past week she will come up to me and whine that she wants to go outside to pee. We are still working on the other! I am also working with her to start using the doggie door.
I also feel your loss. We lost our 17 year old cat on July 13, then our 15 year old cat on July 17. It was not a good week at our house. I cried buckets of tears. Getting Zia has helped tremendously! Can't wait to see pictures of Molly! |

Welcome to GOCORGI, and we love looking at photos here, so post as soon as you can. Your new baby is really going to benefit from all of your experiences with your previous one, and I think that it's special that all these new Corgis come with their very own Guardian Corgi, that makes them even more special!

Welcome. Janice, I am glad you found us. I am sure Molly is bringing you much joy in your home. I am so sorry for your loss, i do understand how very hard it is , i lost my soulmate kitty Clinton 1/29/05 and still miss him every single day. I am sure that Rocky will be happy knowing that Molly will be able to bring you smiles and laughter. I think Clinton had a paw in sending me my Dillon corgi ( who is now 1 1/2 yrs old) and when i smile and laugh, i know that makes Clinton very happy. There are lots of links with great info on food, housebreaking, and other puppy training tidbits... this is a really friendly community with lots of good ideas and suggestions. Welcome - i hope to see photos soon.
we all love corgi pics hereEmilie |

Welcome Janice. Condolences on the loss of your corgi. My older one is 12 1/2 and starting to loose eyesight and hearing. I worry that one day she will be gone. Meanwhile I also have a 10 1/2 month old corgi puppy and she (the older one) has been a very good role model in teaching him what and whatnot to do. Loss is part of life. It hurts, but eventually we move on. Best of luck with your puppy and we welcome you to this site. Great people.

Welcome Janice!
I'm sorry you have lost Rocky. Our Thomas went to the Rainbow Bridge when he was only 18 months old. Our Girl Montrose (aka Monty) was 3 yrs old at the time. Some months later we brought Dylan into our home. Monty is 12 now, and Dylan is 9 years old. I look forward to getting to know you and Molly, sharing stories & pictures too.
