New here!
Hi. I live in the Florida Panhandle and have a new corgi. We have had her for about a month now. She is 4 mo old. We have 3 sons who have wanted a dog for a few years and we finally got them one. We also have a cat. They are tolerating each other at this point. Which is a lot better than the first few days! I look forward to "meeting" you all through this list. We are first time dog owners so I hope I can ask for advice here and there! Thanks in advance. Erin (and new pup Macy)

Hi Erin and Macy,
Watch your cat carefully because it can inflict a great deal of harm to your pup. I hope the breeder of Macy left you with a list of advice on feeding and general care. |

Welcome to Go Corgi! Congrats on your newest edition...so cute!
Milo lives with his kitty sister....she was 7 years old when I brought him home. At first she looked at him with as much disdain as a cat can muster up and went upstairs for about a week. She came around and now they are buddies and play and even snooze together. Animals always have a pecking order and they will sort it out. Sometimes you have to intervene before someone loses an eye. Once Milo got that he was NOT the boss of her, peace has reigned supreme. Since Corgis are a friendly breed, it wasn't hard for my kitty. She is a Birman and they by nature are gentle and sweet..but a cat is still a cat and she is the princess supreme of this household and we all know it and obey. |

Hello Erin,
My Cody lives with 3 cats and he is very respectful of them, but in the beginning, the cats stayed upstairs for nearly a month before they were willing to interact with him. You would never guess there were any early problems after seeing them all together now; but the cats really do have the final say in the matter as to when they will accept the new fur baby Good luck with your new baby

Hi, Macy is sure a cute Corgi. We have a house cat and 3 barn cats. Queen Isabella, the house cat, gets along well with the older Corgis and Border Collies, but she tries to bluff the puppies (Corgi and Border Collie). I think in time she will accept both of them as well. She is declawed, so all she does is growl and swat. Have fun with Macy.

Welcome to the GoCorgi. Poor Liam came to a house of two cats - a giant manx mix and a Katrina rescue. They chase him and beat him with their declawed paws and he lays down with his eyes squinched up. I guess that's why when he finally got to herd sheep he thought it was a piece of cake after herding cats.

Welcome Erin!
My husband and I grew up in the Panhandle of FL in Ft Walton Beach, and our parents are both in Crestview.... are you near there? With the weather out here in Utah lately I sure am missing home! Looking forward to getting to know all about your new corgi pup. I just got Checkers about a year and a half ago and he has been wonderful (even with my 10 month old son)... I'm really hooked on the breed now because of him. Best of luck in the tough puppy years! -Cheryl |

Duncan came to a house with two house cats, neither declawed. One was an old tom, who had never been around a dog. That cat ended up hiding upstairs mostly for almost a year from Duncan. When he did come down, we had to tell Duncan to leave him, because him wanted to play because of other cat She was a 5 month old kitten who had been around dogs when they met. She just looked at Duncan as another playmate, and which they did! Those two would tear through the house! The only way the playing would stop, was if the cat ran upstairs, which Duncan isn't allowed to go.

Welcome! I'm sure by now you have found out how wonderful everyone here is! I sure enjoy reading the posts. Make sure you "favorite" mark this site. It will help tremendously when you have questions about your baby. I have had Delilah for 4 months now and they have proved invaluable to me.
