Another Newbie! - 01-29-2007, 05:27 AM

Hi all! So glad I stumbled across this forum...we're picking up our Corgi baby on Friday...it's a boy! He will be 8 weeks on Thursday...still haven't decided on a name yet...currently he's going by "Bruiser" as he's the reason his momma ended up with a c-section (he got stuck). In his litter there were 4 males and 1 female. He's a red and white (I believe that's what it's called). He will be joining our family of myself, my husband (who claims this dog will be 'his', but I'M the one who will end up taking care of him and spoiling him), our 4 kids, a bulldog and a cat.

Look forward to getting to know all of you and your dogs! I'll be sure to post pics on Friday when our new baby comes home!!

Congrats supermom! Having a new puppy in the house is so much fun! ( and a lot of work) but mostly fun!!! My husband initially was not crazy about getting a dog but he gave in and agreed we could get a dog. I am mom to a 20 month old red and white pem named Dillon. He absolutely LOVES Dillon, loves the breed and has now insited we MUST get a second one! LOL! And as fate would have it, Dillon's uncle who is only 7 months older than Dillon is looking for a good home and so sometime in the next few weeks we will be welcoming Gus, another red and white , into our home! Corgis are awesome! Ask anyone on this site . Welcome and we will look forward to seeing photos of your new baby!

Welcome to gocorgi Supermom! What a very exciting time for you! I hope your boy is nicer to you than he was to his biological mom (ouch!).

We'll be waiting for those pics all week!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Yes, we're VERY excited about our new addition! I've read many of the threads on here and feel I'm adequately prepared. I'm not new to dogs, just Corgis, so hopefully we'll do ok!.

Any specific advice you'd give a Corgi newbie?

Bulldogs are ameniable to almost any dog so he/she will make your Corgi pup quickly feel right at home.

Supermom! Welcome to gocorgi from Delilah. She is 5.5 months old and is absolutely wonderful. I have had lots of different breeds since I was 5 years old and loved all of them. Corgis seem to be real special though. They are very loving and playful. Will overeat if given the chance! Just wait until your baby takes off at a dead run. They call it frapping here. It is sooooo funny.
Delilah takes off and still has not learned how to slow down or make the corner (we have hardwood and tile floors). The carpet is in the hallway. If her toy goes from the living room to the hallway, her front paws hit the carpet and the back ones keep going...... you get the picture....... LOL
