We are not owned by a corgi yet but soon to be. I get to go see puppies this weekend and hopefully bring a new baby home.
YIPEEEEE! I am so excited! We live in TN on a farm. I teach Biology/Ecology in high school and also coach soccer. I would appreciate any advice you can give in picking out the best Corgi. |

Go to the forum titled Puppy Matters and you will find a number of subforums where much has been written about what to look for in a breeder and a potential puppy for your home. IF you are dealing with a reputable, responsible Breeder (that is a breeder with a capital B, then the Breeder will have already selected a couple of potential matches for you, your family and its lifestyle. Welcome to GoCorgi, you have already been given excellent info from Glencorgi, I'll add that I did some temperment testing when selecting my last pup, but that was 9 years ago.
looking forward to meeting your new addition.

Thanks so much. So far both breeders we have spoken to have narrowed us down to a couple of pups to look at when we go. I hope this will make the selection process easier. I know at one breeder we are looking at 2 males that are 8 weeks old and at another one we are looking at a male which is 10 weeks old. All 3 are red and white. I havent seen them yet but I am very excited. I will definitely read the threads you have referred to! Thanks

TNCorgi;
Good luck getting your new Puppy. Mine have changed my life and I love them dearly. My Lulu would make a great Assistant Soccer Coach, she is very bossy. Tucker would not. He's a know it all.

Welcome! Oh my gosh you sound just like I did...I read every corgi book, looked up every corgi thing on the internet, and was literally chomping at the bit to get a look at my puppy at the breeders. In fact she was close enough that I went to visit Ponzo twice before we took him.
I know you love every minute of it...Enjoy it all, the baby puppy part goes so quickly. PS- I'm a teacher too, must be something about us eager beaver teachers! |

It's good you have got three choices. Nine out of ten new owners will go for the best looking and best colouring when all things are equal - and why not.

welcome TN corgi! I know the anticipation...I was there about 20 months ago when it was time to get my red and white pem, Dillon. I was also a researcher, reading everything corgi, on line researching, talking to corgi people, asking lots of questions and trying to prepare myself for my first corgi, my first dog...He is a joy and we are now waiting for our second corgi, Gus, to come to us ( he is 2 years and 3 months old, a retired show dog who has an autoimmune skin disorder and cannot be bred- we are waiting for him to be neutered before we get him). So i know how excited you must be. There are lots of threads about puppy care here!
Welcome, Emilie |

Once I got home he was sitting all sly lookin on the bed . .he said so what will you name it? I said I dont know yet but I have a little while to think on it. He said why not val or something valentines related. I said why I wont get him til after the holiday and he said no maam we are going tonight! We went to the breeder and it was love at first sight! He is a sable and white pem. He is 10 weeks old. He has the cutest dark spot on his rump. I LOVE HIM. I dont have a name for him yet but he is precious!!!!!
