Hi,
My name is Melissa and my hubby and I got a Pembroke Corgi for our family at Christmas. We have 5 children and they are loving her. Her name is Princess Chloe and she is red and white. She was born 9/24/06, so she is almost 6 months old. She was the runt of the litter so I am hoping she stays small. She is just about 12 pounds. I am not sure where the withers are but when I measure her she is 10" tall from the floor to the top of her back at her front leg. Here is a picture of her when we got her on 11/29/06 and then on 2/6/07. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hello,
Welcome to GoCorgi. Princess Chloe is adorable. It is nice to have pictures showing her at different ages. We have 3 corgis. Susie is the oldest. Rusty and Redhead are full brothers out of different litters. Redhead still has some puppy habits even though he is almost a year old. The boys are great friends. Rusty is a nice big brother and even lets Redhead take a toy from him. Susie is not fond of either one of the boys and she makes sure that they know it.

Hi there. Her Royal Highness, Princess Chloe doesn't seem overly small - she is just a petit girl which in many respects, is the way I like a female Pem to be.
You can resist calling her 'the runt of the litter' because that is a term that does not apply to Chloe. Her whites are well placed. Does Chloe get evenly treated by your children, does she have any favourites and does she get to choose which one to sleep with at nights? |

Princess Chloe is adorable. I for one do not know exactly where the withers are either. I just assumed it was the top of the shoulder, which is about where you measure to. Welcome. Post pictures of Princess Chloe often so we can all enjoy watching her grow.

Thank you all for the replies.
Chloe does not sleep with anyone but her little stuffed moose. She sleeps in her kennel. LOL I am sure the kids would love it but right now this is the way it is. With all the kids, 12-9-7-4-2, it would be a constant fight over who gets her. How big do you think Chloe will get? I sure hope she stays "petite". |

Welcome Princess Chloe! She is a cutie!
OK.... sleeps w/ her Moose..... Is her moose by chance green and white striped w/ yellow moose antlers? Tucker's first toy was Bruce the Moose and he fits the description. Tuck and Bruce were inseparable...until Tuck decided stuffed toys are to be distroyed and scattered around my living room! Susan

Tucker is small for a Corgi. I believe currently he is 14 inches to his withers (I too believe it is the top of shoulders). He weighs in at 24 lbs. My goal is to keep him under 24 lbs per my Vet's advice.

...Hello and Welcome to Princess Chloe from yet another "Chloe"!! Apparently that is a good name for a female Corgi as there are several here! My ChloeLouise is a red and white Fluffy - she is nearly 2 years old and the darling of our empty-nest household. Our first dog was a Corgi-mix who ALWAYS slept with our four children when they were growing up!! By the way, ChloeLouise does not fall into the "small" category...

At 6 mos. the average weight would be 20-24 lbs. So yes, she is small. Also a corgi has most of their height by 6 mos. If they gain more, it's maybe another 1/2 inch. As for her being a runt, maybe maybe not. A runt is a sickly puppy that is not doing well. Usually small due to that. However just being small does not make a puppy a runt. If they are healthy, eating well, gaining and growing the puppy is not a runt. Puppies like human siblings can be different weights at birth. Also, a small puppy at birth can grow to be as big as it's siblings. I've had that happen with a few puppies I've had in litters. It does sound like you've got a small sized girl though. I doubt she'll get much bigger. Her adult weight will most likely be around 18 lbs. Peggy

This corgi is undersized according to the standard. However, I agree she is not necessarily a runt. Peggy

Thank you all for the replies. I really wanted to know about how big she would be and you have answered that, atleast guesstimated it. LOL Only time will tell.
We wanted a small dog and that is what we got. She is the sweetest thing too. She has learned to sit and sometimes stay, and to ring her bell to go outside. She does that often, I think she likes to play outside. She will be 6 months old soon so I am making her an app. to get spayed. How bad is that? I am nervous for her... ![]() By the way....her moose is brown and has red and white striped antlers. |
