BannaOj... Lowryder Cardigan Corgis - 04-10-2007, 10:20 PM

I was doing random google searches on corgis, and ran across this forum. I'm surprised I haven't heard of it before. Anyway I loved the embarrassing corgi story contest so I thought I'd join.

Below is an excerpt from my time in the Rally Ring with Ciara (who did finish her RA in spite of me.)

Quote:
Subject: One Cardigan Corgi Owner.... Free to good home

Please contact Crazy Quilt Ciara Serendipity CD RN CGC/TDI, for information on A.J. Isbell.

Need to dispose of old owner quickly, need to upgrade to model that can walk in a straight line.

If you wish to improve your canine Alertness, Reflexes and Coping Skills, AJ is the owner for you. She will take you on a journey of self improvement that has no comparison. You will have to learn to read and navigate obstacles on your own as she may get lost in the Rally obedience ring and run you over a sign so that you get tangled up in it.

For daring and adventure you will need to be prepared to jump out of the way at any moment when she stumbles or trips. In the ring, you must be fully prepared for her to fall flat on her face at any time, and take appropriate protective measures. The gasps from the judge and spectators are in appreciation of your quick reflexes and intelligent behavior. You must be prepared to heel properly while A.J staggers around after falling, and suffer through the following days of heeling with an ungainly limping owner with a sprained ankle.

If you need to hone your owner-handling skills to tip-top shape. AJ is the one for you.

Ciara,

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure we'll be able to help you place A.J. or at least offer some training tips.

Debbie

PS: How are the puppies?

Yes, I can totally relate. I run Tucker in Agility and we will be doing great then suddenly his handler will forget the course. He would be so much better of with a handler who could actually remember where he is supposed to go!

Welcome to go Corgi. I have a 2 year olf Pem named Tucker and a soon to be 1 year old Cardi named Lulu.

Hey AJ
Glad you found this forum. I found it a few months ago...
Looks like you have some new puppies...what fun! Any chance you are headed to the National specialty this year?

No, we won't be going. Would love to, but I already made a trip to CA this year for my brother's wedding, so I can't afford to go twice. And it's a long drive from Chicago. Jake, my male Special, has been out there twice with his handler. He went BOS at the SoCal specialty, and also got an Award of Merit at the Eukanuba National Championship. It gets pricey though, and we'll be sticking closer to home for this national.

We should be at next year's National specialty though. I just had that litter of puppies a month ago, and those will be fun to take out then, when they are just over a year old!

Yea...Chicago to California is a haul...my friend Shannon and I drove from Oregon to St. Louis for the 2004 specialty and that was quite a drive. I'm glad it's on the West coast but am wondering how big of a turnout there will be for performance events.

My youngster will be doing agility, obedience and rally...should be a fun few days...
