Hi Everyone -

My name is Andrea but I go by Andy. I am a grandmother of 7 grandchilden and own 4 Pembroke Welsh Corgi's. Two of them are my orginial pets - Miss Piggy ( and that is her registerd name) is 6, Fuego is three, and two show Corgi's Taco who will be two in Sept. and Muriel who is one. Taco just finished his AKC championship and is being specialed at shows in California where we live. I love and play with all my Corgi's but Taco is my special man since he has decided I am his special person and he won't let me forget that.
We live in a the Mojave desert about 100 miles from any other large city. We live on 5 acres so my dogs have lots and lots of room to run and play along with the grandkids. The showing of our Corgis has become a family affair with my daughter showing her bitch Sophie, and my grandaughter showing her new pup Buttercup. My grandson Stephen shows Taco in Jr. Handling and the pair is doing well together. We have so much fun together at the shows. Our daughters were raised showing Paint horses and now the grandkids are being raised showing dogs.
My oldest daughter who has a miniture Schnauzer named Fritz is just getting started into fly ball and will be competing this summer. This will be great for her kids also since they have a Jr. Divison and championships in this event. Don't really know much about it but I will be learning since I need to support them in their event also.

Yes that is Taco. My Daughter took the photo at a recent show. It really turned out good as well as the other photos she took - she has missed her calling.

Andy, welcome to the corgi lovers headquarters. How wonderful that you have 4 corgis. I can't imagine 4 corgis frapping. They'd make a trail through the carpeting. Best of luck with the shows. ~Shelly

Hi Andy
You've certainly started a dynasty. To get family totally involved is marvellous and the country setting you live in is a bonus. You may not admit it, but when a Corgi 'performs' like Taco has, there is an extra soft spot added just for him or her.
At the local agility training centre, there are a couple of Miniature Schnausers also involved in agility along with my Pem, Taylor and they all get on like a house on fire.
You must do heaps of travelling. If you follow after the conformation shows, it can take you to many places. Maybe you need a helicopter and a helipad on your five acres.
I'm on a four hundred mile round trip from tomorrow and apart from trying to sell copies of my book, Amazing Dog Stories, Taylor and I are in four agility events - not too many when you consider we could have entered for a dozen.
Have you got a breeding programme in mind or are you sticking to just the handling of Pems.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Yes we do a lot of traveling, as it looks like you do. My girls grew up showing Paint horses and we had a large measure of success for a small time operation. We showed the circut for about 15 years, so I kind of missed the traveling and the fun we had getting there and back. Now we are doing the same thing with our dogs and of course the grandkids - great way for them to grow. My 11 year old grandson is showing Taco in Jr. Handling and he is a natural - everything his grandmother is not ( I really have to work at it). The one thing that I see is his self confidence growing with every show. He learns from his mistakes and works hard at correcting them.
I would love to try agility one of these days, but I am afraid that will have to wait till I retire from work as there just does not seem to be enough hours in the day to do all I need to do to keep my dogs fit for shows( but the bonus is I get fit too!)
I love my Corgis - what a great breed. Over the years we have had many dogs and I love my corgis the best.
Andy

You asked about a breeding program - yes I do have a program in mind. But that will have to wait for about a year and I want to promote Taco this next year. Also I need to have his eyes, hips and blood tests done when he turns two. I have a really nice bitch that I have just started showing last month and need to concentrate on her championship. It is hard to be off showing and welp a litter of pups at the same time - at lease for me.
