Jin the Pembroke Welsh Corgi!
This is Jin a Pembroke Welsh Corgi born on May 25, 2007.
1 in 5 littermates and 1 of 3 males in the litter. I was told he was 2nd dominant in his litter. The 1st dominant was way too playful for me since I was looking for a balanced Corgi. The 3rd of the males was too shy for me so I believe this was the right Corgi the breeder recommended for me. Anywho, here he is. I'm not sure if he is a "bluie" but he started growing in a darker shade of fur on him that was not present at the time I brought him home or saw him at the breeder's house. I'll let you guys decide. His eyes are normal and so is his nose but the coating now shows a bit darker shades. He is 12 weeks as of today and we took him to the vet's this morning. He is 10.6lbs according to the scale. Is that a little underfed or is that normal weight for his current age? At 11 weeks :![]() ![]()

![]() I thought I got a bluie. Not that there is anything wrong with a bluie but the breeder told me that there was a bluie in the litter and that he would be discounted. Since mine was up to AKC standards then he would not be. Just didn't want to get ripped off that's all. I believe bluie has to do something with their coating to be of a gunmetal/shiny gray-like or light-black, their nose pigmentation to be dark brown and the rims of the eyes to be off-colored. Must a Pembroke possess all 3 of these factors to even be a bluie? Or does each factor account him/her to be one? (I.e normal eyes and nose but gunmetal coat coloring?) Anyhow I really like him alot and am happy to have him as my long-term companion for the next 12+ years. |

The bluie genetics are autosomal recessive, each parent must be carrying a gene for it in order for it to manifest in the offspring. It dilutes which the pigment (nose and eye rims) to either a steel grey or a chocolate brown. The coat has a dusty cast to it. The only one I've seen in person has been a red-headed tri and one of my foster dogs.
Bluie The dilution will manifest itself in all three places. We did have a couple of other bluie members on the forum. Debbie |
